How should one dress for the interview?

Its hot and humid and I have no clue what to wear.Whats appropriate and inappropriate ?

04/11/2012 Sent AOS Package to Chicago Lockbox

04/17/2012 NOA recieved

4/23/2012 Biometric Appointment notice received

5/4/2012 Biometrics completed & the real waiting game begins !

Business casual, I am sure it will be air conditioned

My best advice, dress like you want to be taken seriously and that YOU take this interview seriously

I have seen people in jeans and ragged t-shirts and others in full business suits. Unless it is for the naturalisation oath ceremony, there is no official dress code. Personally, I would go for business casual (smart pants or a skirt on the knee or below, blouse or smart t-shirt).

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

It was very hot (>95 F.) and very humid (>95%) in Guangzhou a month ago. My fiancee wore comfortable, business casual clothing to her interview, and had no problems. A/C was available inside the consulate. However, the lines start outside on the plaza, where you get to fully "enjoy" the mid-June Guangzhou climate.

It's amazing to me how few people actually know what business casual is. We tell people all the time at my work that dress code for certain meetings is "business casual" and they show up in jeans and a t-shirt. They seem to only see the "casual" and miss the "business" part.

Anyway, my husband doesn't own anything besides jeans. So that's what he'll be wearing and we'll have to hope for the best.

7/30/2012 - EAD card production ordered.

8/02/2012 - Interview @ 2:00

8/02/2012 - Email notification of GC production at 5:30pm

8/07/2012 - Second GC production email

8/07/2012 - EAD received.

8/08/2012 - GC mailed.

8/09/2012 - Welcome letter and I-130 approval letter received.

8/10/2012 - Green card received. :)

Shirts and slacks. It's not dinner with the prez so you don't need a suit. It's not a beach party so you don't want shorts.

2011 - Married USC

Conditional GC Process:
04/2012 - Concurrent I-130 petition / I-485 AOS / I-765 EAD / I-131 AP sent
35 days to biometrics, 73 days to EAD/AP combo card, 85 days to interview, 96 days to Conditional Green Card

04/2014 - Eligible for ROC

06/2014 - I-751 package filing joint with spouse sent

5 days to extension,37 days to biometrics, 172 days to CSC transfer, 247 days to Green Card

04/2015 - Eligible for Citizenship

09/2015 - N-400 package filing on basis of USC spouse sent

29 days to biometrics, 105 days to interview, 147 days to oath and US citizenship

~ 9 years and 6 months from first entry to US citizenship
