Hello! I am Japanese living in Malaysia. I'm trying to apply for Police Certificate for 2 passports I have as I recently had to renew it. According to the manual, I will have to upload a passport sized photo. In here, do I have to upload a photo with blue background or white background? I'd like to double check because new Japanese passport photo comes with white background. My old passport photo comes back blue background. Which one should I choose? I asked my Malaysian colleagues, their passport photo comes with blue background. I would like to double check! Thank you. :)

Well, I called Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia on 1/26, the receptionist was so helpful but after she transferred me to Certificate of Good Conduct department and as soon as I heard someone voice when connected, they hung up on me. I called again, she transferred me, connected, but someone hung up on me. I gave myself a try to e-mail them and it worked like a charm. I received a reply just in few hours in same day and was told it does not matter if the photo has white or blue background. The both photo and the passport page photo file format must be in jpg or jpeg. They told Me when I am done with submitting the application online, reply back to them. So I did. Today, I check my status online and my certs are ready for pick up now. I was told it would take anywhere from 1 week to 8 weeks via e-mail and I was expecting it would take that long long long time but it took only 2 days for me. I am very surprised and pleased with their e-mail support!

if you like in Malaysia, you can post it and they will send it back to you, but remember to include a self address envelope with stamp

Visit this website : http://www.kln.gov.my/web/guest/online , follow the instruction , fill the form online and print and sent to the putrajaya office.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs,

Consular Division,

No. 1, Jalan Wisma Putra,

Presint 2,

62602 Putrajaya.

I did not certify any of my documents... i just made photo copies and send them together with the form i filled on line..

After 6 weeks, i was approved.

I got my CGC in January 2016 ,after completion of my masters degree for a Canada student visa , now I wana apply for USA immigrant visa and I submitted same CGC I got in January 2016 and it wasn't accepted, now I apply for another CGC online and it's now 2 weeks still in process but the one I applied for in January 2016 took just 5 working days to get ready. What do you mean the paper work filled out? are you talking about the police certificate in Malaysia? if yes , its very easy for both foreigner living in malaysia and Malaysians but it takes times, it takes about 6 weeks to get it. you can only apply online.. if you have any specific question about the process, you can , i will guide you though

I have a question, is it different processing for student and immigrant purpose when issuing a Certificate of good conduct, because when I applied for CGC in January 2016 for a Canada student visa it took 5 working days and now I'm still waiting it been 2 weeks now

It's no different. Sometimes they are busy and it takes longer. It could even take up to a month or so.

For my I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD, AP and ROC detailed timelines, please refer to my timeline page :)

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

My sincerest gratitude to all VJers, especially the late geowrian.
