Thank you very much for the info. They have removed the "Date of document submitted" section on the form.So Since it is gone I believe that I don't have to worry about it, and my status has changed from " Application has been submitted" to "In Process".Hopefully I'll get it soon. Fingers crossed :)

when did you apply for it? Some members said it took a month after the new changes. It took me two months, but I applied last year

I applied it on 09 July 2013.The person I called from the foreign Affairs said that it would take at least a month but not more than 2 months to get it approved.

Then it's too early to expect it to be completed. Check again early next month and if no news, start calling!

Hi everyone - has anyone on here (or someone they know) previously renounced Malaysian citizenship and then ordered the Certificate of Good Conduct afterward?

My fiance obtained NZ citizenship and needs to renounce his Malaysian citizenship, but is worried that he cannot get the police cert - his Malaysian passport expires in 5 months and the online website to order it will not allow passport with less than 6 months validity. So he can't order the stupid thing online and no one will help him (either in Putrajaya or here at the consulate in Melbourne) in sorting out how to get it.

We were told he should use his NZ passport number and apply as a foreigner, but he never lived in Malaysia as a foreigner or had a visa/permit as a foreigner.

We're hoping that he can apply under the NZ passport and simply include certified copies of the old MY passport and IC card.

Any advice?

I'd suggest sending it in as a foreigner but including both his Msian and NZ passport biographic page.

Just a quick follow up for anyone else in same situation - fiancé applied as foreigner and just used foreign passport and a face pic and was approved in just over 4 weeks no problem. Even though he never lived in Malaysia under that passport, it went through fine.

A huge relief as we were worried that this could stuff up everything!

After the website said "Certificate ready for collection", he called the Consulate and got it a couple days later. You can pick it up or drop them a prepaid envelope and pay the fee.

Does anyone know how long the certificate is valid for? I know it takes about 2 months to produce. I emailed the KLN and was told that it depends on the US embassy. So does anyone know? We just put in our I-130 last month but want to begin preparing all the required documents early so we're not so rushed later. Would it be safe to apply for the certificate of good conduct now?

Thanks!

You might want to read the thread from start to finish. Question has been answered by a few members already smile.png

It'd be a good idea to apply for the COC once you get your NOA2. I130 takes anywhere from 5 months to longer (from NOA1 to finish).

Ops, I'm sorry. My bad... Thank you JP and Tee :)

no probe! Embassy staff told me during a phone call its valid for a year tho other VJ members said they were told by Wisna Putra staff its only valid for three months. I'd go with what the embassy staff days :)

also if you lose the COC, all you have to do us write to Wisma Putra and ask for a replacement copy as long as its no more than six months after you received it the first time. Include self addressed envelope with sufficient stamp and the fee rm20 I think n you should be good.

my mom lost my cert and I had to get a replacement +_+
