Does anyone know how long the certificate is valid for? I know it takes about 2 months to produce. I emailed the KLN and was told that it depends on the US embassy. So does anyone know? We just put in our I-130 last month but want to begin preparing all the required documents early so we're not so rushed later. Would it be safe to apply for the certificate of good conduct now?

Thanks!

Hey there.. I know it's a little late but I applied my police certificate back in July and it's ready for collection within a month that was in August and I just picked it up now. The date that they put on the certificate is the date of collection. I hope this helps goofy.gif

We submitted the Malaysian Certificate of Good Conduct to GUZ two weeks ago, as requested on the blue slip, and just got the following email reply:

"Under the section 221(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, the Consulate is unable to issue you an immigrant visa. If you have already submitted your passport to the consulate, we will keep your passport with your file pending the issuance of your visa. Further consideration will be given to your visa application after you meet the following requirement(s):
根据移民国籍法案221(g)条款,本馆不能批准你的移民签证。如果你的护照已经提交至本馆,本馆将会保留你的护照及档案,直至签证批准。在你达到以下要求后,我们将对你的签证申请作进一步的考虑:

• Dao, xxxxxxxxx to submit a Malaysian police certificate covering her period of residence there.
Dao
xxxxxxxxxxx 需要提交一份覆盖了在马来西亚居住的所有时间段的警方公证。"

Since there is no further explanation, should we assume:

1) Malaysian Certificate of Good Conduct is not accepted as a police certificate, contrary to what this thread says

2) Certificate needs to specifically state it covers the year 2001 when she was in school there

3) They just plain lost what we already sent.

???

Did you apply for the 1 day police certificate or the one that takes month? The police certificate should show your entire period when you stayed in Malaysia and not just year 2013 or something. Not sure what is the CO in China asked of you.

We applied on the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs website for the Certificate of Good Conduct, as we were instructed to do by the Malaysian Consulate in Guangzhou. It took about 12 days to get approval online and then we went back to the consulate and they printed the certificate out.

Our police certificate is ready per the online status - it just took about 3 weeks, pretty efficient! But we haven't had time to get down to Putrajaya to pick it up...gotta take time off work next week to collect it - I hope it is sufficient for this visa process...

We picked up our Police Certificate for my wife on Friday. But ours was dated 21 November - not the date that we picked it up, as was mentioned in some of the earlier posts. We applied for it on 16 November, so the turnaround was pretty efficient.

I've searched on this, with mixed messages. Two questions:

1. How long is the cert valid for? 6 months or 12 months?

2. Does the certificate need to go to NVc via mail, or only to inteview at KUL embassy? (i believe Malaysia is appoitnment post embassy?)

I'm asking mainly to arrange the timing well with NOA2/NVc, which probably won't be until May for me.

Thanks!

Ignore my first question (looks like 12 months) but still quite curious if the COC gets mailed to NVC...or brought only to embassy interview.
