Pets are for your enjoyment? what about to have their own life, to be healthy - cats having babies over and over is the same as humans...it's not safe...

pet population...unwanted pets...I mean I can't even think clearly this has me so upset. (not literally but it's just sad.)

Finally finished with immigration in 2012!

I had planned to bring my 12 years old Springer spaniel over to join me.. Sally had been my best friend for 12 years and got me through 10 long lonely years before I met my now husband... Sadly Sally died just 8 weeks before my Mom was due to bring her over... I will carry the guilt of not being with her when the end came for the rest of my life... she gave so much to me and asked so little in return.. I miss her more than I can express here.....

I am so sorry, Kezzie. We too have a spaniel and I can't express either how we would feel if anything happened to him. But knowing that you gave Sally a good life, that you had intended for her to join you even though she was getting on in years, should make you realise that you did all you could for her. Life can be very cruel sometimes, but I am sure that Sally would not have wanted you to be so sad. Remember the good times and that you probably gave her as much happiness as she brought you.

Our journey started in 2001 and it's still not over. It's been a rollercoaster ride all the way! Let me off - I wanna be sick!

If you really can't bring your animal/s with you, the best thing to do is to arrange a private adoption - that way you can vet the prospective owners for yourself and you can see for yourself whether you think their home is a suitable place for your baby to live...

I agree with Kajikit. I left my german shepherd with my uncle who was also my god father. 4 months later he gave her to a complete stranger. I visited my dog when I went back :crying: I was really upset about the way she lived................my little dog "cried" so much when I left again, she was fighting to take her with me

The way to find out if you love someone or not, is by talking to them.

The more you talk to them the more you either hate them or love them.

Well, I have a 8 y/o dog and her name is Naná.

I'm not taking her with me because she just loves the rest of my family so much that I can't take her away from here. I know they love her too, she's a part of the family so I trust them to take care of her. If it was any different she'd go with me for sure!

Oh and Dave and I have three very cute kitties(Skank, Gabriel and Ivete..... we named them after brazilian bands the we like.... hehe) in the US, so that's another reason why I'm not taking Naná with me.

I can't imagine how painful that must have been for you, I really can't.

We have a dog, Sam, and he is one of the family - sometimes people think we are mad, but decisions are made with the effect on the dog taken into account. We have actually refused to do things, based on how he would be effected, just as we would a child. He is getting on in years now, but still has a few good years in him yet. We would hate to be parted from him, to the point where this family would be separated from each other, before we would leave the dog.

I can only say how sorry I am that you were placed in that position. What was your uncle thinking?

My uncle asked to take care of the dog...He had a dog too and said he would love to take care of Cara....then I don't know what he was thinking. The person who he gave her to had a german shepherd too and it died poisoned. So my uncle was MAYBE thinking that he is helping that guy....I just am afraid that my dog will get poisoned too, since the guy has a bar and takes the dog there often....

I won't be able to bring my JRT with me when I move and figured I'm not alone with this hard decision.

If anyone wants to share their experiences, wisdom, advice, anything that might help get me through feeling like a bad 'mom'.

Maybe we will get a pet! lol
