Nothing has changed in Ukraine. Same requirements. The only aspect that has changed could be financial (Affidavit of support I-134) which typically increases based on poverty guidelines.

1/18/12 - Received at Vermont Service Center

1/20/12 - NOA1

1/24/12 - Touched

2/09/12 - Touched

8/02/12 - NOA2 (197 Days After Received at VSC)

8/14/12 - Received at NVC (Assigned Case Number)

8/16/12 - Departed from NVC

8/20/12 - Arrived in US Embassy Kiev

8/28/12 - Information Received from Embassy via mail

Why not ask her what the new strict rules are? Talk like this is red flag, if she does not have any other details.

No

Aren't you here on VJ so that you CAN and WILL know all that is required to have a successful visa petition and later interview? You are the man and NEED to take charge!!

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

She is probably hearing rumors from people in Ukraine. There is a lot of BS for anyone looking to get a fiancee visa. Sometimes they tell them they will need a tax clearance or special test, but it is just more BS. Tell her to search the US embassy website for any changes or updates. If she listens to what "people say" she will likely end up spending money she doesn't have to.

Only new thing I have seen is that all birth certificates, and passports are required since Feb to be in Ukranian language. But just at renewal time. So beware of red flag.
