Hi:

My request for an expedite K1 visa petition was approved via letter I received dated April 16,2012. I called USCIS 2x and both times they read what was in my USCIS account that has never been updated since Dec 28,2012 and they are not aware of the approved request for expedite. I asked them how long I will I wait for a decision but no one can give me a direct answer. One says,"If they will get to your papers, they will send you a letter about their decision and we don't know how many expedited cases they have..." :( Does anybody have an idea on how much longer I will wait?

ya , get an ISO this time:

http://www.dhs.gov/files/publications/gc_1305658440339.shtm

the first fella that answers the phone has almost no access to your actual casefile status on the computer screen. a bit, but an ISO has higher level computer access, can see what's really going on with yer casefile and the casefile status.

Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

3 tricks:

1) ask direct questions, yes and no answer. Do not ask when, where, etc. The person answering the phone is allowed allowed to answer specific questions on the case. Most of all be polite, but ask questions such as you would in as if intrrogating someone in court. --get specific answers, do not ask for them to speculate.

is there a reuqest for RFE?

is there a note on follow up needed?

is there a note on needing more information?

Has the case been sent to NVC?

When was the last time someone looked at the case?

2) if you have a letter of expedite approval, track your case online at USCIS. You can expect a decision in your expedite case within 7 to 10 days (typically 2 to 3 days). with a letter in a couple of weeks. If there are issues, expect an RFE. From the looks of it, the case may be closed and sent to NVC, or may be completed. typically, having no information is a good thing.

typical expedites are for humanitarian reasons. Such as family members in hospital or flooding, earthquakes, natural disasters in area, or a case of civil unrest in the area. When asking for an expedite, you have to match the reason to the condition. Mismatching the request to the section of expedite asked will cause a denial.

Best of luck, at least you are moving forward.... NVC will take some time though. get ready for another wait.

Expedited cases are usually approved in 5-10 business days and usually there is no notification other than an approval notice.

Are you SURE it was approved for expedite? What EXACTLY does the letter say, word for word?

Are you SURE it was not expedited and sent on to NVC (though they would probably show that in their system)

IF the letter says it was expedited then I would make an infopass appointment at your local office. While local offices do not hanlde petitions they DO have an inside phone line to someone that can help.

Thanks so much for the suggestions..I will call them back and try to request speaking with a Tier2 or maybe try the infopass.

Here's what the letter says:

A number: Axxxxxxxxx

Receipt Number: EAC...........

Beneficiary Name...etc etc

Your request for expeditious processing is approved.

This office is now in receipt of your documentation to support your request..... Upon receipt of your letter requesting expeditious handling, this matter was reviewed and a determination was made that it met the criteria for special handling.

The petition or application will be reviewed and you should be receiving notification from this office VERY SHORTLY.

etc etc...

Sincerely,

My case is for a K-1, my fiance lives in the dominican republic, i have been to DR 6 times since July 2013, from my job, they are not giving me any more vacation time and if I have to go for the interview, I'm gonna have to ask for UNPAID time off, and take out my daughter from school, but I still got vacation time in July and If I dont use it, it will not roll over, thats why If i can get an approval soon, then I can do everything and not have to take unpaid time off. If I do, then I will be losing about $2-3,000 :(
