Dear Pakistani VJ memebers,

any one who can share his or her experience of long long waiting time? I had interview six months ago for IR1 visa and ISL embassy kept my pasport with it. how long it could be. i want to get my passport back as i am planning to visit Nepal, would it hurt my case or they can continue their process without my passport?

You can join us here at this tracker for ISlamabad...we are all pending AP some visas have been issued but most of us are still waiting... http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/343005-new-islamabad-ap-tracker/page__st__795

As far as the passport I've heard two different things.. one is they can return your passport but they will need to check again as to the reason for your travel and why you went to another country and will have a longer AP and the second thing i've heard is they won't return your passport during the AP process. I would call if you can and inquire about the passport. That's the only way you will know for sure

You havent called the embassy yet, if do so what is the reply from them

And please tell me if it is a good idea to contact embassy ?

You can contact the embassy at any time.. whether you will get thru or they will reply to your email is a completely different thing.. it is difficult to get thru on the phone line but worth trying if you need to.

You may ask your petitioner to contact senator/congressman. It will either push your case or inform you the reason of delay. I think ISL embassy takes 6 month for whole name check process but it is not restricted to 6 month. Many cases take longer time and it depends on the frequent visits to foreign country(make name check process lengthy ), so there is no solid answer of your question.wacko.gif

Thank you for the advice. I called embassy and got typical answer that my case is under-process. I am just curious to know what is max and min time for approval.

Hi there..we are coming up on our 6mos as well, May 8th will be our 6mos, it's interesting that you mentioned the name check process...my husband is from ethiopia and so I'm wondering if that's what they are checking on? I'm a USC and my husband is the beneficiary, I've called our local congressman and his aid explained to us that the adjudication officer has our case and its just a matter of getting to ours, she called then informed me what the officer told her, so we are waiting and hoping to get an answer soon!! good luck to you on your wait for NOA2, RBM

No, Ziatarik is asking about his visa. He already went through with all CSC, NVC, and currently his name is under FBI name check process.

In your particular case, you just need to call CSC and create a service request about your petition. If it does not work for you then you may ask your congressman or senator to look into your matter.

Yes, I am currently waiting. I hope I will get NOA2. God Willing.

ya, seems some confusion there. OP is in AP, after the interview date at the IV unit. No concept of NOA-2 for this, now.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

This is very worrisome as my fiance has to travel for his job as a tour guide. He can't do his work if they keep his passport that long. How do we deal with this? Thanks for the info!

Contact the embassy and just tell them he needs his passport to work. They should send it back but you may still go thru AP and possibly another check to the countries he goes to after he gets the passport back.... You can either call or email the embassy.
