My son got his interview date after less than a week after case complete and he's scheduled on May 10. But we're going to re-schedule it in June so that my NVC case can catch up.

You can try expediting with NVC so your case is complete and scheduled an interview for the same day as your son.

Now my mind is reeling. Need to get original docs from my husband still. Need to schedule my medical. Need more passport photos. Need to decide on how/when to get to Montreal. Need to finish driving school. Need to give a months notice to my job and need to decide when to quit in the first place. Do I fly out to HI after getting my passport back, or after graduation? Aaaahhahaahaaaaaaaah :wacko:

You can try expediting with NVC so your case is complete and scheduled an interview for the same day as your son.

We tried that but NVC said there's nothing more they can do since the case is already at the US embassy in the Philippines. And we were also told that we cannot expedite without my nvc case no. But we'll ask again after I get my case no. thanks! :-)

How are you guys buying air tickets? For those petitoner attending the interview?

Buy 1 way ticket abd once interview approved and visa received, only then buy 2 tickets to US?

Any ideas? What are the benefits, pros and cons?

Hey guys,

How are you guys buying air tickets? For those petitoner attending the interview?

I'm planning to attend my wife and step-daughter's interview in Santiago, Chile. I will buy a round-trip ticket for myself and book the return 7 days after the interview. For my wife and step-daughter I will be using my frequent flier miles to get them round-trip tickets with a return date months in the future. I know there is some risk to this because it can take longer than 7 days for the embassy to return the passports with the visa, but from the reviews i've read of that embassy they will get the visa out quickly.

Generally two one-way tickets are more expensive than a round-trip ticket. In my case one-way tickets are over $2k where a round-trip is around $1,200. The higher priced one-way ticket does have greater flexibility and can be changed without any penalties whereas the discounted round-trip ticket is non-refundable and has a $300 fee to make changes plus any difference in airfare.

I would suggest you price out both options and then find out what restrictions each option has and then make your decision from there.

03/27/12 - Choice of Agent accepted for wife (sent another for step-daughter via email and express mail)

03/28/12 - Choice of Agent accepted for step-daughter & IV bill invoiced & paid for wife

03/29/12 - IV bill shows paid for wife & IV bill invoiced & paid for step-daughter

03/30/12 - IV bill shows paid for step-daughter & IV Packets mailed for both

04/04/12 - IV Packets reviewed. Checklist issued for Divorce Decree for my wife. Step-daughter's was accepted and her case closed

04/10/12 - Divorce Decree accepted after supervisor review & wife's case closed

04/16/12 - Expedite requested for both cases due to NVC error

04/18/12 - Expedite request approved for both cases and sent to Santiago Embassy

Embassy: (15 days)

04/24/12 - Embassy received both cases from NVC

04/25/12 - Wife went to Embassy for document review. Interview date assigned for both cases.

04/26/12 - Medical Exam for both. Result - approved.

05/07/12 - Interview date for both. Result - approved!

05/09/12 - Received both Visas

05/16/12 - POE Atlanta

Saylin from what i've seen recently, interviews are scheduled early to late afternoon. Have you ever seen someone get a date assigned after 7pm? I have been paying special attention to this in like the last month and I can't say i've seen any but since you see so many I figured I'd ask you.
