Vaccinations, Civil Surgeon, I-693

Like most K-1 Visa holders, my fiance did not get vaccinated at the medical examination. I understand he will have to receive vaccinations and have the form I-693 signed by a civil surgeon. I guess I having difficulty understanding what this process involves.

This is how I understand it:

1. Find local civil surgeon.

2. Go to his office.

3. Get vaccinations.

4. Have him fill out the form with signature.

Or do I have a totally wrong concept of this process.

Correct but most of them require you book an appointment before going to the office.

Shop around, prices have a high variation. ANd there are some that take walk-ins. I did some research when my time was up and found one that was very low cost and luckily, in a city (Denver) where we were going to be anyway, so $10 later, we were done.

There is here in VJ a discussion that someone started long ago and many people contributed with names and contact info for Civil surgeons. Hopefully there is one near you.

Make an appointment with a Civil surgeon in your area and expect to be told to bring $150.00 - $ 450.00. If you have a DS-3025 form from your medical in your country take it with you. We only had to pay $77.00 but many weren't so lucky and paid outrageous amounts.

There was just some booster vaccinations my wife had to get. She got most during her medical, which included them. The Civil Surgeon told us to use our insurance carrier for the booster shots, and they turned out to be to free as they were wellness care. We brought the statement of from the medical in her country, and the statement of boosters given at our clinic to the Civil Surgeon and he was able to transcribe the entire thing. He also told us he could give us a list of low cost vaccinations in our area if my insurance didn't cover her. He said he could give them to, but his cost was higher than the other options. Quite the nice guy actually plus relatively cheap in this area at $75 for transcribing the paper work.

As I know all vaccines required are not free for adult. If you have insurance, you can use it. They will give you a record then come back to see the CV for I-693.

Yes, you can. But how will you determine what shots he needs? It is better to have the CS tell you exactly what is needed instead of trying to guess.
