Had our interview at Denver's office yesterday. It was short and sweet. Hard to even find anything to say about it. She swore us in, searched for a few questions she could ask us, asked for any additional proof we wanted to give her, glanced at it, mumbled an approval, escorted us out. The most nerve racking part was the wait. Stress level dropped significantly on the way out the door. Got the approval email just a few minutes ago. Good luck everyone!

Nothing on my EAD, although at this point I would barely receive it before my interview.

Hypnos, we're in the same boat. What's the point of even issuing an EAD if it gets replaced by your green card in two weeks?

Best part is the two EAD case numbers immediately before us were approved days ago. Wake up USCIS!

Hi Martha,

Yes, we went Tuesday to apply for it(got EAD Monday), she said at the Mobile office to expect it within 2 weeks. I know I have seen other people say that if you need the number immediately, try going in a few days after you apply and have them print out a letter giving you the number. (Call first to make sure your local office will do this.) Luckily we aren't in that big of a rush, but if you need yours ASAP that may be the way to go so you can get your applications filled out. I know sometimes they have to check your eligibility with USCIS and that can take a few days.

I would just be thankful that your process has taken less than 90 days from mailing off your package to having your interview-- that is unheard for those who are AOSing from a K1 visa, most are currently taking anywhere from 5 to 8 months, as I said, count your blessings-- you are one of the few lucky K1's with a quick AOS

For people getting the SSN remember that if you get it with your EAD, then you need to request it again after your GC approval. The SSN with the EAD will have a note that says "Valid to work only with USCIS authorization..."

I'm pretty sure your social security number stays the same, even though they issue you a new paper that doesn't say it's only valid with a work permit. And I've yet to have somebody ask to SEE the paper. They want to know your ssn. If you know it or have it written down anywhere, that's good enough. I started work and I got my credit card without showing the paper. It's locked away as securely as possible, because it's such a tiny piece of paper, I'd be surprised if it doesn't go missing.

I guess what I'm saying is, for those of you who want to start work or get a credit line, get your SSN now, they probably won't ask to see the new one anytime soon. And even if they did - it's free, you're not wasting money. Mine came in 4 or 5 work days after I applied.

I would echo coocoo's sentiments here. Get the paperwork moving. I have never been asked to show my SSN card before, all people want is the number
