:P I was singing right along with you lol. Finally received my RFE in the mail today. It was exactly what I suspected it to be. We didn't provide enough evidence with our I-864 to show that we make over 125% of the poverty line. Someone even circled and underlined "or obtain joint spoonsor" in red ink as well :huh:. Welp!

hmm. sounds like they made the decision for you. did they recommend you prove assets or more money in the bank, etc as alternative for joint sponsor?

hmm. sounds like they made the decision for you. did they recommend you prove assets or more money in the bank, etc as alternative for joint sponsor?

They recommended proving assets and other proofs or having a joint sponsor, but to be safe I think we'll do both. We were about $1,000 short income-wise, but we had at least $3000 in assets. Better safe than sorry, right?

Just to clarify - what exactly is the minimum income? We stated $19,000 - according to my calculations that was enough?

I found another error I made since my last post in this thread and made another post about it in the main forum. I actually would only be $100 short of the poverty line due to my new current income. Silly me used my 2011 income shown on my tax returns :blush:. The 125% poverty line is at $18,912 for a family of 2 though. If that income will continue from the same source even after you become a permanent resident then you can add your income to your spouse's I-864. Read the instructions, it is all in there. :)

yes u can. i used mine

my income is close to that as well and my wife only makes 10k.

u need to give ur income related papers, employment authorization papers (in my case h-1b) and a letter from ur employer showing full time status to show that ur not a temp or contract worker i.e. ur job is here to stay when u become LPR.
