What does your NOA2 say?

I have a real strange situation here. I have been waiting for 4 weeks now for the NVC to get my case. Today when I called the person asked me what the first line of my NOA2 says. It says:

"The above petition has been approved, and forwarded to the listed consulate."

When I told them that the person said that it will go straight to the embassy. When I said that isn't the usual order they said that some go that way. I called the USCIS and they said the same thing. I asked how I could track my case without a new case number and they directed me to the DOS. I called the DOS and they never heard of such a thing!!!

So here is my question. Please look at your NOA2. Does the first line say it's been forwarded to the consulate or the NVC? If it says the consulate has you gotten notice that it went to the NVC anyway?

Thanks!

Hello All,

Mine (both I130 and I129F NOA2's) say:

"The above petition has been approved. We have sent the original visa application to the Department of State National Visa Center (NVC)......."

For the I129F I then got a very rapid response (9 days) that it had been forwarded to the consulate.

Hope that helps,

Gary, mine says the approved petetion has been sent to the NVC. Strange that they would just send

anything to the consulate. Based on their demonstrated lack of efficiency I would not rest until this

matter is dealt with. The call center people knows as much as we do....if that much. Keep e-mailing,

calling UNTIL this matter is resolved. God Bless.

I called the USCIS and got connected to a nice person who told me conflicting information that the NVC doesn't receive your case and that is goes straight to the Embassy from the service center. So then I told the guy well my I797 letter says the following "that your case will be sent to the National Visa Center" blah blah.. Then he said your letter is not correct?? Now the USCIS said to call the following number 1-202-663-1225 and inquire about it.

This is getting too funny that the USCIS doesn't even know the how the approved cases are handled??

The fun continues...

This is your NOA2 - not the notification from the NVC. *Normally* cases are sent from the service center to the NVC where they are issued a case number and then sent to the embassy or consulate.

Gary, in your case it sure seems unusual. I would be back on the phone with the NVC or the embassy ASAP. My notification from NVC, both email and hard copy, said it had been received by the NVC, gave me a new case number, and was forwarded to the consulate. The consulate then responded to my inquiry email indicating that it had been received from the NVC and used the same case number. Good luck!

Okay, I have been around for awhile. and it used to be that both the I-129F and the I-130 was sent to the NVC. From there the I-129F was forwarded to the consulate for processing and the I-130 was processed by the NVC.

Now what I am seeing is that a "hit and miss" of the I-129F's are being sent directly to the consulate. Okay, a little off the normal course, but it would have gone there anyway since the only thing that the NVC does with it is forward it to the consulate.

Don't worry, I am sure its all okay.

The approved petition should go to the NVC and stay there for few days where the NVC should assign a case number and then forward the case to the Embassy. Please email NVC and ask them questions. The email is: NVCINQUIRY@state.gov

Make sure, you write your USCIS receipt number on the subject line when you email NVC.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview

Gary,

Someone told me (probably my attorney) that K1 cases used to be sent directly to consulates . Then they changed the procedure and started routing them through NVC. You may research if this is really true. If so, I am wondering if CSC used an old form letter for your NOA2. Whether that is a problem, only embassy or USCIS can tell. Best Wishes.
