visa for my son

Hi everyone! I am a filipina and married to a US citizen and left my son in manila. I came here with K1 visa and I am aware that we're privileged to take my son with me but we didnt do it because he is not ready yet for the big change of lifestyle over here. My son is 10 years of age and we are thinking of filing a petition for him once i get my permanent green card. My question is what type of visa is the best to get him here?

K-2 FTJ or CR-2. IR-2 is possible also.

Moved from IR-1/CR-1 Process & Procedures to Bringing Family Members of US Citizens to America. OP's marriage to US citizen occurred prior to son's 18th birthday which allows the OP's USC spouse to file a petition on her son's behalf.

no, your husband has to file for him.

if you get your GC and file for him, the wait is over 2 years. he can come sooner if your husband files.

K2 follow-to-join is faster because no new petition is required. You have to submit his visa application to the consulate, and his visa must be issued within 1 year of the date your K1 visa was issued. This can usually be accomplished within a matter of weeks.

If it's been too long since the K1 was issued then a CR2 is the next choice. That requires a new I-130 petition from your husband. Total time will be in the neighborhood of 8 months to a year.

ya, I really couldn't answer which was best, because I not know yer circumstances (son's schooling schedule, how much money you want to spend, and when you want to spend it)

but

your husband could file the I-130 on yer son,the day you receive yer green card, and include a cover letter asking for expedite (reason - mother already in usa) .

There's lots of other variables to take into consideration, so please map out your calendar of when you think he's ready to arrive, then work yer plan backwards from that date.
