I have read several threads saying that wearing an engagement ring during the interview is not required. In my case, I bought the ring during my visit, my fiancee picked it out. I just submitted the initial I-129F package and I included the engagement ring receipt as proof of ongoing relationship. I never found the right time to give her the ring and brought it back home with me. The first time a stone fell out, then the place I chose, she did not like, etc. Now she is worried about the interview without the ring. I was going to wait until she was approved and came here before I gave it to her.

Currently, she wears a promise ring that I gave her when I arrived. Should I just mail her the engagement ring?

I would not trust the mail with an engagement ring. I don't have one, never wanted one and it wasn't even an issue

I am sure she'll be fine, it is not a requirement for her to have one

Good luck

The engagement ring is not necessary for the interview at USEM. You could email her a copy of the engagement ring receipt and place that with the Proof of relationship. The physical engagement ring is not required or necessary.

I can't imagine that a ring would be required. She can tell them she has one but you are waiting to be reunited to give it to her. They did ask at my interview if I had a ring though and he said something like 'Let's see the ring' :) But very informally, the whole interview was informal. Talk to your fiancee about what she'll say if she's asked, but I agree, don't mail it! Not everyone choses to have an engagement ring so I can't imagine it'd be a problem.

Thanks for all of your reply's. She is just a little nervous. I emailed her and called her a few times and it sounds like she is doing very well. We just don't want to make any mistakes if we can prevent them.

There's no legal requirement to ever have an engagement ring or a wedding ring for that matter. And it won't be an issue for the interiew either.

Good luck.

Since you used the receipt as proof of relationship. And you bought it while you were with her. If I was the guy doing the interview I would be suspicious if she wasn't wearing it.

There is no need to have a ring in the first place but you've made it clear that you got one while you were together and now she's not wearing it. It would make me wonder.

You don't want to make those guys wonder.

I agree, that is the reason I posted the question.

I will tell her that if they ask, she should just tell the truth. The ring was damaged and after the repair, we did not have the proper opportunity. I don't think this is an issue. I will post the results here after the interview, which is many months away.

Thanks

I was never asked. Your fiancee will be fine :) If they by any chance ask, then she can just tell them what happened. As long as all the docs and requirements are complete, there will be no problem :) Good luck and keep the faith. All will be given in God's time :)

The ring is not necessary during the interview, they are actually satisfied with the photos and some proof of conversation and most importantly is the income status of the the one petitioning. SO do not worry about it, i think the receipt is more than enough proof, the Consul knew already that engagement sometimes happened in the US as soon as the fiancee arrived.
