Watch this video and you'll see what other people wore to the embassy...pretty much everything from jeans to suits.

The video is geared to student visas but it's exactly what you'll be doing too except you won't have the same type questions asked. The interviewer will only see your top half. LOL. Also notice the size of bags and backpacks that go through the door.

Watching that video made my heart pound but it's good to see what it all looks like inside.

Hi. Just to clarify. It was mentioned above that the Visa fee should be paid before you attend the interview. Can it be paid THERE? or before that day via online or mail? I'm just trying to understand in case I need to send my fiance the cash for it, what the process it.

Thanks! :help:

It needs to be paid beforehand as they will email you a form with a barcode on that you have to take to your interview.

Wondering about the Packet 3 you've read about for months in the K1 forum????

There is no "packet". That's old talk. Your instructions and forms are posted on the London website. You can start working on the forms at any time. London will send a letter to the UK beneficiary when they have received your file and are ready for you to apply for the visa. That letter will tell you to go to the website.

Here's where you start Instructions for Immigrant Visa (K) Applicants Applying for a Visa in London.

The forms are on the right. If you filled them in early, then you can post them off to London the day you get the letter. Don't send them before London has your case.

Here's the basics of what London needs to get before they assign an interview:

  1. Visa application forms sent in by you to get in the queue. Only forms. No passport photos or documents like birth certificate, police certificate, etc.
    • Form DS-230 Part I and Part II
    • Form DS-156 (2 copies)
    • Form DS-157 (2 copies)
    • Form DS-156-K (Do not sign it. You will sign at the interview while the officer witnesses. It's an oath)

Medical results. They arrive at the embassy by courier 3-4 days after your medical exam.

<li>Form DS-2001 Readiness for Interview with a cover letter- This is your way of saying you have gathered every document needed for the interview including the I-134 from your fiance. They are in your hands---not on the way.

Read the instructions on the website for what documents you need for the interview. It also tells about what info to include with the DS-2001 in the form of a cover letter. There are links in a list on the left side to learn about the medical, visa fees, courier, interview, FAQ. Sometimes the right side of pages give links "for more information". Click those too. There is a lot of information to learn if you will click links and read it all. Don't depend on a forum to give you all the info. We might leave something out. Best to study the source, then ask questions about things that don't make sense.

Love all the information all you guys have put here for everyone!

Yes, you have to pay before you attend the interview. The letter with your interview date and time will reiterate this.

Phoning from a UK landline is £1.23 a minute, calling from the US is a flat fee of $16. Also most UK mobile (cell) phone providers do not allow access to the service because it is a premium rate number. When I called it look maybe ten minutes all in and that was about 10.30 on a Saturday morning. I got the email with the barcode while I was still on the line.

Goodluck :)

That's in this thread somewhere. Ah, found it on page 5 post 70. Dan signed his and had no problems even though Jenni paid from the US.

Kinda confused...Dave found out that we'd sent his subject access request to the wrong police department (he sent to where he thought the convictions were). He called the ACPO people and the customer service gave him the dates and convictions with a phone number, telling him this was enough. Has anyone heard of that?
