Embassy Review : I got into the long line at 8.15, there were a ton of people already waiting; Including Ashley from Ashley and Pudsey on Britains Got Talent!

Eventually I was admitted inside the embassy at 8:50, and was given a ticket number man I917 number at reception, these numbers are few and far between, so prepared to be there for a good while!
I was called to a pleasant English guy at around 9:45 who gathered the relevant documents from me and asked me where abouts Matthew was. He then handed me my chest Xray on a CD and gave me a pink courier slip to complete. I was then advised to wait until called again.
I then began the dreaded wait again for my number to be called by the next officer, I was eventually called to window 16. Where a Chinese- American was, I read his badge 'Vice Counseller' Here we go I thought.
Be prepared, the questions that this officer asks are somewhat bizarre and intrusive.

Firstly he asked, Where is Matthew? What does he like to do in his free time? What do you both do together? So, tell me what do you both have in common? Is Madisyn (our daughter) Matthew's child? Did he come over here when she was born? Did he come with you to register her birth abroad at this embassy? She is a US citizen?
Has he always lived in Texas? Where does he mother and father live? Where do your folks live? Would his parents be willing to help financially if you ever got into trouble as it may be a while until you get work authorisation? (Matthew earns WAY above the threshold- so he was just digging) What is your job here? When was the first time you met? (It was July 2010- but he kept saying 2011 and i had to continually correct him) When was the first time you spoke to him? How?
Eventually after numerous questions he said the magic words "I am approving your visa" I replied with Thank you and he didn't blink an eyelid. Just slotted my passport into a plastic wallet and told me to go and pay the courier.

Overall, he wasn't the friendliest but he made my day with those magic words after being stuck in the embassy for 5 hours!
Rating : Moderate

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
