Quick question- sorry if it was asked before. When I sign onto the payment portal it states:

This case is in the process of termination. Fee payments and online forms can no longer be accepted. If you believe you have received this message in error, or to resume processing of the case, please contact the NVC immediately.

What does this mean?

It means that NVC is working on your case. It could be that they're invoicing your AOS bill.

I just called today, and an operator told me our case number (yay!). I asked her if I could opt for email communication, and she said yes, she already has our email addresses in the system. So far, so good.

Yours was received by NVC last Friday and you got a Case Number already, yay! that was pretty quick. Awesome! Mine was received on Monday (2 days after yours  ) ... so hopefully I would get my Case Number sometime by the end of this week. Crossfingers.

So pretty much you get your case number, give the operator the email addresses and then have to wait for them to email you the IIN and you roll from there. I think I got it right, didn't I?

Almost. You can get the IIN from the operator. Just ask for the 'Invoice Identification Number'.

Thank You. Does this mean my father will also need to provide me with transcripts, paystubs, and a letter of employment?

Transcripts would indicate it's a joint return. To be on the safe side, I would have him provide the paystubs. Letter of employment is optional, if having one will give you more piece of mind, include it.

Also lets say I decide to just use my father instead since he makes more money and his income alone is enough to be my joint sponsor then would my mom still have to file I864a or can I just have him fill out the I864 like me? Thanks soo much. I've read the guides and instructions but this gets confusing when you need a sponsor.

In this scenario, reverse what I said earlier, your father completes the I-864 and your mother completes the I-864A. I suggest your mother complete the I-864A because the Embassy has the discretion to ask for it. It's better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it.

How do I send a response to a checklist? It's for the birth certificate. Do I just send in the original birth certificate with the package IV cover letter and that's it?

You send the checklist cover letter that was sent to you along with the item that is being asked for.

How do I send a response to a checklist? It's for the birth certificate. Do I just send in the original birth certificate with the package IV cover letter and that's it?

First page: bar-coded cover sheet (from either the checklist or the IV one from the payment portal)

Second page: cover letter (optional)

Third page: original birth certificate

Fourth page: photocopy of birth certificate

I'd include sticky notes on the birth certificate and write:

"Original birth certificate of FULL NAME" for the original one

"Photocopy of FULL NAME's birth certificate" for the copy

Also write the case number on the sticky note.

Saylin- do you know how long that takes, when should I check back on the website? Thanks for all the help!

Usually just a day or so. Check as often as you want.

What do you mean by transcrips would indicate its a tax return? I'm not sure if you mean the IRS transcripts should be included. Basically does the person filling out the I864A have to include the same things as the one filling out I864 such as the IRS transcripts, paystubs and employment letter you said was optional.

I'm performing final assembly and check off on my AOS package. This is what is currently going in:

  • I-864EZ (verified as no spots blank and signed and dated)
  • Tax Transcripts for 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 (they are all scanned together as one PDF)
  • Employment letter
  • Possibly paystubs

Do I really need the bar coded cover sheet for an electronic case? I have it standing by in any case.

Can anyone see anything I may have forgotten?

If you're sending in transcripts of 2008-2010, those are the last 3 years, so no need to send in 2007 as well.

And I included the bar-coded cover sheet for my EP packages. No way did I want to skip that and get a checklist for that!

Yeah, I think I will as well. Did you scan send it as it's own PDF or did you put all these documents into a master PDF with it as the cover sheet?

The only way to pull the 2007 transcript would be to rescan the transcripts. I may do that.

I took the scans of every single document (as well as the cover sheet) and created one PDF out of it all. I then emailed that one PDF to NVC, like they want.

And there has to be a way to remove just one page in a PDF instead of having to re-scan it all.
