Comments from Fiancee's interview on 10/24/06.

Three officers conducted interviews (one man and two women).

Anna said that the gentleman who conducted interviews was very friendly and polite to all. Always smiling and would come out from behind the interview window every now and then to stop and say hello to the fiancées as they waited and would offer them encouragement.

Anna was interviewed by one of the women whom Anna described as very serious and business like, but still very polite.

Anna’s interview lasted less than 10 minutes and was conducted in English. She was asked only one question: Tell me some general things about your fiancé. Anna said she spoke for approximately 5 minutes about where I was born, my family, where I live and work, qualities she loves most about me, etc. The woman then told her congratulations.

Anna said the only thing they took as evidence of our relationship was one picture and never looked at or asked for anything else.

Anna also said that they took the visa fee before her interview and she also had the impression (as others have stated) that she was already approved before being called to the window for her interview.

The embassy experience went basically like this...

Around 9am they collected documents first, Tanja had given the ones I left in English, they asked her to fill some out in Russian too.

There were several officers doing interviews. There was one officer who seemed a little bit harder on people. Tanja was very nervous but did not get this individual for the interview.

Questions asked:

How long have we known each other?

How many times we have met?

How often we talk on the phone?

Did I know of her previous marriages?

To her son... What did he think of me?

Generally the officer was very kind but wanted to know proof of relationship details.

The interview was conducted in Russian.

The other officer that Tanja was nervous about denied someone a visa, but we do not know why. He also wanted all the interviews he conducted in English. I am very happy we did not have this officer doing the interview, Tanja's English is not the best, and goes to almost nothing when she is very nervous.

A big APPROVAL here, too. October 26th was a good day for approvals. My wife said one person didn't get approval due to insufficient financial document, but everyone else seemed to do okay.

Questions were pretty much the same as Tanja's (of Jim_Tanja), who my wife and I met on Monday the 23rd at the Medicina (sp.) clinic. I recognized Tanja from Jim's posted photo. :D

My wife had the male officer, who she said seemed to be the nicest of the three (2 others were women, one more stern than the other and the only officer to deny).

The interviewing officer didn't want to see any supporting evidence (photos, email, phone records). My wife had to almost force our photos on him! And after he looked at the photos (which included my wife, her daughter, and me), he asked if I had met her daughter! Really on top of things, eh?! In any case, the questions were simple.

My wife had her interview in English, and she said the officer asked her, "Do you speak English?" When she said yes, he responeded, "Wonderful!" Apparently he's more comfortable doing interviews in English.

One VERY stressful point was while waiting in line at the Embassy, they looked at my wife's invitation letter and said she was NOT on the list for the day! WOW! Talk about stress! I thought my wife was going to kill me! But after about 5 or 10 minutes, they let her in and she waited about 20 minutes until they cleared up the mistake.

Overall, the whole thing took about 2 hours for her. They opened the door at about 8:30am (after about 1 hour of steady, medium rain) and she came out about 10:30 or 10:45. I was too excited to look at my watch for the exact time.

Oh, and they accepted ONLY the DS-156 electronic version. The officer did NOT ask for the Russian language version like he did for Tanja the day before. Interesting that they told me (when I called the Embassy) that they would NOT accepted the Russian language version *beginning* October 25th. Well, I guess they just didn't have their act together 100% and they stopped taking the Russian language version on the 26th instead.

That's it for now. More later if I can think of something.

Final thoughts: :dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:

2005-08-10: Met Natalia and fell in love. Too bad she didn't.

2006-01-13: Married. Biggest mistake of my life.

2006-03-07: Began the I-130/I-129F process.

2006-11-01: POE - JFK / Home in Austin!

2006-11-15: She hits me and continues pattern of abuse.

2006-11-16: I filed for divorce.

2006-11-17: Wife is served divorce papers; she and daughter return to Russia.

2007-12-08: She returns to Russia "for the holidays" (lied to lawyers and court).

[many more ups and downs during this time period - mostly downs]

2008-03-26: File for bankruptcy.

2008-07-30: Bankruptcy finalized.

2008-08-27: Divorce final. Started piecing my life back together.

Argh! This is frustrating... waiting for the Embassy to print and send the visa via DHL!

I see quite a variety of wait times to receive the visa. I'm in Moscow with my wife and we're going nuts because DHL doesn't have any tracking info, and the Embassy only said to please call next day.

Yikes, forgot to ask you about that when had you on the phone. You still planning on flying out on the 1st?

Maybe you can just pick it up at the DHL office.

All,

My fiancee Victoria had her interview on the 31st. The consular officer asked her five questions. After this the consular officer kept I-134, her medical exam results, her birth certificates, and the completed DOS forms and told her that the Consulate will inform her of their decision by mail. The consular official did not even look at the evidence Victoria brought to the interview or the pictures. I have a feeling that the consular officer who gave Victoria her interview was one of the women who was strict like it was described last week. I called Moscow and requested an inquiry about the case. Hopefully when I call them on Friday they will have an answer for me. I just don't understand why the CO could not decide on our case after the interview was over.
