Hi all! My name is Jessica, my fiance is Tobi. I'm in Oregon, he's in Germany. We've been together for 3 years. I've been there twice - 4 weeks total, he's been here twice - just under 6 months total.

He proposed this past September when I was there! Yaaay! Now on to the fun part. lol.

I'm not near as overwhelmed as I was before. I've done a lot of research and reading (all over the web, and here). The part I'm struggling with the most is finding the money to actually file. I plan to use my tax return in February. I make enough on paper to sponsor him, but reality is I have a lot on my plate. I am a single mom with 3 kids. I don't receive any help from the government, nor do I receive any monetary support from my ex-husband.

I'm really excited to have found y'all and just a forewarning. I'm the Queen of Questions.

Thanks! Yeah, I'm only paying for the K-1 application. He's paying for the rest. He does help me with some of my bills already, so I don't like to ask him for too much, ya know?

I've read a lot of the guides, and plan to read everything I possibly can. I'm just in the middle of a move right now, so life is crazy. It's a roller coaster. Good thing I like wild rides.

to be honest, there are a lot of bills to come.

There is the medical/Civil surgeon fees, not to mention to AOS fees which are $1070.

I think the hardest part is when he comes over, there is a period of about 3 months where he has to wait for the EAD to come through.

Coz personally, i feel this way. I am now in the waiting limbo and it bugs me i cant help out with the household expenses..

i used to earn a decent salary back home..and now... zero income.

My advice is do consider the other visa (the marriage one) i think CR1?

At least, when he moves over to the USA, he can start working immediately.

I dont know much about the CR1 visa so please do have a look at it and think about it?

Hi Jes - not to add another worry to your already very full plate but at some point, you will have to submit statements regarding your income, bank accounts, etc. You might want to think about getting someone to co-sponsor with you for the financial stuff. A few questions: All receipts (hotel, restaurants, flights, etc) do they need to be the originals? Or can they be scanned?

Also, Skype. Our nicknames aren't our real names on Skype. How do we prove that we are the two people on there? Does that even matter? There's considerable proof in that log alone. lol

You just submit copies of the original receipts in the petition and you keep the originals.

The skype names.. If you want something that's proves your identity you can go ahead and set your account up with paying a small amount so you can call cellphones or similar. Then when you'll get a receipt and you can use that as proof. I did however go ahead without the skype receipts. You don't need the call/chatlogs until interview though.

In our case we sent in the original receipts and flight boarding passes and kept copies for ourselves. Regarding Skype, we ended up not sending any Skype proof and just sent in the phone bills with our considerable number of international texts. The suggestion that you pay for an Skype upgrade so you can call each other for very cheap to your cellphone or landlines is also a good one.
