If I wanted to petition for my husbands family member(s) to come to the US.....what's step one of this process ? Is it possible?

You are not able to petition in-laws. Your husband will have to become a US Citizen in order for him to petition his parents or siblings.

Thanks Ryan. It's actually his aunt and uncle who raised him. His parents disowned him when he was a baby and was raised by the aunt and uncle. Is it still possible for him to petition for them later down the road, or is it strictly immediate family?

I don't believe he can petition for his Aunt or Uncle even as a US Citizen...

unfortunatly not. if they would have adopted him, then when he would have been a USC maybe he could have filed for them.

there is no way that he could file for them.

Wow, that's a shame. I'd love to give them the opportunity to come to the US, as they are already in their 70's. Maybe them applying for a travel visa is the only option.

Health insurance for a couple in their 70s is about $100,000 per year. Are they so unbelievably wealthy, or is your husband richer than Richi Rich?

That's fine.....we're not looking to move them here necessarily ..... but to stay for a month of two would be nice.

Huh???? Ummmm........yea, so anyway. On the TRAVEL VISA note.......they wouldn't need health insurance in the states And no....my husbands definitely not rich because if he was, I wouldn't have been looking to VJ for help. I'd have an overpaid lawyer doing my dirty work

Bob was a bit flippant, but in the case of an immigrant petition, which is what you were thinking of at first, he would have a point: at interview, elderly beneficiaries are often asked for proof of health insurance so that their medical needs in the USA are covered, as they will not be elligible for medicaid/ medicare.

Carol.... Yea, I'm used that ####### on here. Thankfully when God created me he threw in a few extra drops of BI!$H .... So when people give it, I'm ready to give it back. It's amazing what some little blue squares with red hearts inside can do to a persons ego!!!!! Lmfao!!!
