Hello all!

My fiancé and I met online about a year ago now. From the day we met, we have had Skype conversations every single day for hours at a time. I think in the entire year, we've only missed 10 or 11 days. We Started dating December 2010, and carried on the relationship until we met for the first time in June 2011. He lives in Arizona and I live in Ontario, Canada. We both traveled to New York to attend his cousin's wedding, where he proposed to me while we were dancing. After being in New York for 2 weeks, we came back here for an additional 2 weeks, and then he went home. Last month (October), I went and visited him for 12 days, and when I returned home, he purchased a plane ticket to come and spend Christmas with me (December 19th until January 7th 2012). We continue to have an amazing relationship going, we have never fought about anything, and we love each other more than anything in the entire world.

We sent our 1-129f application in September 16th, and they mailed it back at the beginning of October because the amount of the cheque was wrong, so we have to re-mail it with the proper cheque.

Our plans were for me to move to Arizona as soon as we were approved, but I'm really nervous we'll be denied because we've only been together for a year, and only been engaged for almost 6 months.

What do you think the chances of us being denied are because of the amount of time we've been together?

Also, would it be a good idea to send in the plane ticket receipt for him coming next month when we send in the new cheque? And would pictured from our visit last month improve any chances?

Thank you so much for your help!

I am not K1 but I read a timeline of someone who just met online for few months (less thans 6 months). The guy visited her for couple days and when he back to the States, he filed the I-129f. They have the fastest timeline I've ever seen. From meeting online to visa issuance is only almost 12 months with their case.

So, I guess you will be fine. Just show send them any docs, pictures of you had together. Latest pics might be very helpful.

God bless and Good luck.

Philippines is a high fraud country but a lot of folks here are approved even if the relationship appears to be raw. As long as you you have the evidences of ongoing relationshi, skype screenshots, phone bills, cards, frequent trips to see each other after filing, nd you should be able to answer the CO's questions correctly you should be ok. Agree with Delani. Length of the relationship shouldn't prove a barrier to you.

Annette and I first met in Nov 2006 - but given the 5,000 mile distance there didn't seem much point to a relationship.

So it was March 2008 when we started "dating". We hadn't been able to get each other out of our heads, so we decided to give a relationship a try. Within 6 months I had proposed, and we had no absolutely no problems with her petition, or the K1.

Keep a log (and as much evidence as possible) of all contact - and certainly, travel documentation is superb evidence.

She is from Canada which not a high fraud country, they live "next door" to each other almost.

I know she's from Canada. What am I saying is that short term relationships is approved here considering this is a high fraud country so how much more for Canadians so she shouldn't worry.

The amount of time you have known each other is a non-issue, they look for the two of you having met within the past two years and then evidence of an ongoing relationship. You should have no issues.

Watch out for those guys from Arizona! :lol:B-)

Not a problem.

I see no cause for red flags here, though I am not a USCIS worker. My fiance and I met online in December 2009, a relationship grew from that and we began seriously being 'together' in October of last year (though we 'knew' there was mroe to it before but tried to see other more realistic people~as in living in the SAME country!, but to no avail!) We met in April of this year and were engaged by May. When you know, you know, right?! We write, email and skype all of the time. We've been engaged seven months on the day of the final Embassy interview. They haven't approved us yet (hopefully that'll be next Friday), but certainly we've had no RFE's and never felt the time was an issue. Perhaps context would help; hes in his fifties and I'm late thirties/he's a doctor and I'm expecting to do my PhD over there and between us we've five children (none shared...obviously!)...maybe our age and circumstances help, who knows yet. Point is...in terms of time scales, you're not too dissimilar to us so I'd say if you love eachother and are prepared to show ongoing relationship....go for it. Just provide as much evidence (boarding passes, photocopies of envelopes of love letters sent back and forth etc) and photos of you together too. Good luck.

I think you asked the wrong Q, Steffi.

Should be asking, "what are our chances of BEING APPROVED"?

Sounds pretty good, as long as you provide as much documentation as possible, and you'll have still about 7 months to accumulate more and more evidence you can take to the interview!

07/27/2011...........NOA1 received.

12/05/2011...........RFE received.

12/13/2011...........RFE response sent.

12/16/2011...........RFE RESPONSE received by Vermont S.C.

12/22/2011...........Teased by a text-message from uscis, saying they have received my response to the RFE.

12/30/2011...........LA VISA APROVADOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

01/12/2012...........Case Sent To Bogota Colombia, from the National Visa Center.

02/09/2012...........Schedule Interview.

03/23/2012...........Interview (to take place then)!

04/07/2012...........Arrived in USA.

07/01/2012...........MARRIED!

What next?

You need to have met in person ONE time. If you meet the qualifications for the petition your petition will be approved. An approved petition is NOT a visa. It is permission to apply for a visa. Petitions are rarely denied and when they are it is because the conditions were not met. Period.

If you meet the qualifications of the visa, it will be approved. It is your responsibility to prove the realtionship is genuine and not formed for the purpose of immigration benefits. Many people have met once for a very brief time (hours) filed the I-129f immediately therafter and were approved with only one brief meeting.

Many have "been together" for years and get denied. No one here can tell you if you will be successful or what the odds are. However, I can say "it is entirely up to you" Prepare well, document well and you will get the visa. Then you have to prepare well for the AOS and then you have to prepare well for the Removal of Conditions and then you have to prepare well for the naturalization and THEN you can live like everyone else. :P

IF you do everything right and do things on a timely basis, this will take about 4 years. We filed the petition in March 2008 and expect Alla to be a citizen about March-June 2012.
