Any of you who were women...what were your anwser to this question? If no, what was the reason for answering no?

If the law requires it, are you willing to bear arms on behalf of the US?

Is that a question you were asked?

Not really. my wife answered / put on her n-400 as No by mistake. Now she has to either says yes during the interview or confirms no and provide a reason.

any suggestion or just change the answer to yes at the interview.

I am a woman and answered Yes too. I believe if you want to stick with "no", you'd need documentation (such as letters from clergy) explaining why.

if it is a mistake... then during the interview she can inform the IO that she put no incorrectly. IOs will go over the application and make any corrections needed.

I don't think it is a major deal.... at the moment.

I concur.

She can dance until the music stops. The music won't stop until the I.O. has gone line by line, point by point through her N-400 application. All she needs to do during the interview is pointing out that she made an error and it will be corrected. No big deal, happens all the time.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Wife did want to answer NO to that question, afraid of firearms of every kind. But had to think up a scenario to say yes, like enemy soldiers coming into our home and raping her daughter. She kind of said yes to that. And would have to as bad as that, not talking about having guns, yes, I have a few, but talking about being called assumingly by our military to bear arms for our country.

First off, everyone that is in the military doesn't fire a weapon, first have to pass a battery of psychologically test, don't want to give a nut a loaded weapon, could even shoot his buddies or the commander. Next have to be very proficient at stripping down your weapon and putting it back together again, blindfolded. Many flunk out in this stage due to lack of mechanical dexterity. After all this, have to pass at the firing range, where even more are weeded out. Then the ability to kill another human being is tested, even more are dropped out.

Just saying there is a huge difference between your willingness to bear arms and even given the opportunity to do so. But she would if she or her family was attacked, so on that basis, she could honestly answer yes to that question.

Even took her to the firing range, she fired one of those Soviet surplus weapons. Ha, those things did more damage to the shooter than the Germans. She got all black and blue on the shoulder and said, never again. I don't blame her. But kind of a crazy question to ask of an old person, or a small woman. Especially, well lets say, one that is over 26 years old. She did mention she would like to shoot those rabbits eating her flowers. Can't do that, against the law.

I answered yes, but quite frankly it is super dooper unlikely that a draft goes in effect that would call for both women and men, and if it did, men are more likely the one called to arms. Just saying... I don't like firearms at all, I'm worried about children finding them and playing with them, but DH has one in our safely locked safe. And as a previous poster put it, what if there is a crazy invasion, then yes, I would use a firearm to defend my family, and basically that question for a woman on the n400 more or less applies to a crazy situation.
