So I have a notary public helping me with paperwork, she advises me on the I-130 process for my husband. I called NVC today and they told me they received my case sep 26th, I've been calling and they say 10-20 days, I know its the same message, they tell people. The notary public told me not to call them every day since they might push the case on the side due to that the problems Mexico is having right now, I understand Mexico has been having these problems for a long while now and I don't understand why this would make a difference to how they would handle the case. She told me it might take longer than a month for me to get a case number! is she right? I'm getting a bit depressed with that now...

A notary public is in no way, shape, or form qualified to help you with immigration paperwork.

Id be depressed to if a Notary was handling my Case. OMG! Is'nt that kinda like rubbing Honey on your skin and hunting bears with a bowie knife. I really see no advantage from this person. However, if they have gone through the process advice may help.

ohh i know that about notaries, my petition is already approved we are done with USCIS, I was just wondering if what she was telling me was realistic information, I'm actually being more hands on and have already gathered all my info. I was just wondering if receiving your case number is really taking more than a month? and if its based on what country the beneficiary is from, does it play a role on if they give a case number to it in the 10-20 days.

I agree, the only thing is that this notary started out in immigration, she has a lot of experience since the early 90s with immigration, but since it's not her main focus right now, I was just wondering if NVC is really taking longer than a month to assign case numbers.I think im just getting depressed...

Please be careful. Your future is in the notary's hands. She is telling you bad information. Learn more about the process yourself so you can be more informed. Once NVC received your application, they will review it and assign a case number. Your application is in the system already. There is nothing she can do for you now. You do not need her to tell you not to call. Check VisaJourney.com in the Mexico's portal for timelines. Find a situation similar to yours. The timeline will give you a good idea how long your case will take.

Once again, please be careful.

I think you misunderstood, I haven't even been assigned a case number from NVC, that is what I'm waiting for.

Thank you! I will go ahead and look into it, apparently K-1 visas are given a case number faster than CR-1 cases, and there's been a backlog at NVC so I'm going to be more patient and call every other day!

From NOA2 to NVC Case number: It took more than a month. For whatever reason, there is a backlog in getting files from USCIS into the NVC system. So, unfortunately, right now, having month-long lag to get a case number is normal.

OK anyway but calling them everyday is not going to move your case any faster or slower, it is not going to do anything.

ok, that's going along with what I'm also hearing from other Vj members, a month is the "normal" time right now

I psycho-dialed NVC (have the automated system prompt responses and USCIS Case number stored in the phone number so I press 1 button and it gets me through the system to the info I want) while we were waiting for our 2nd little guy's MNL Case number, it took about 28 days IIRC.

There's no need to harass a live operator before they have assigned an Embassy case number.
