DS-230 Educational Institutions

On the DS-230 Part 1, No. 33 where it asks for all educational institutions attended, does that include elementary schools? Or is it just high school and universities?

Also, on DS-230 Part 2, No. 43a. where it asks if you want the Social Security Administration to assign you a SSN and issue a card, is this just preference? Why would you not want them to go ahead and issue it for you?

i put my education from elementary to college

and i put yes for having a SSN

i think if you check no you don't receive it by mail and you have to go and get it your self

Some people already have a SS# from earlier days--it used to be very simple to get one if you were in the US on a legal visa of almost any type--not so anymore--

I remember calling NVC for this. I spoke to two different people but none of them had clear answers. They just said if you need extra space use a seperate sheet. I was thinking to myself what's the point of the elementary school, middle school etc. The description is vague. It says all educational institutions but nobody knows for sure if it's necessary. If you're planning on going by others' experiences add me on that list. I listed high school, college only.

Same here, I listed high school and college. Oh, and check yes for the SSN, although it isn't 100% guaranteed that you will receive the card EVEN if you check yes.

So what would you put for course of study and diploma or degree for regular school? like my wife went to more than 1 high school and a language school

You don't take really specific courses of study in high school unless you go to a special school, so beyond knowing that you graduated high school or received the equivalent diploma I think it means only post-secondary education including certificates, courses, college or university.

For school, put all including elementry but if you do not remember all way back since elementry then just start from High school and beyond. It doen't matter much as long you dont lie about your school. If you dont remember elementary years dont put them. They never ask about these at interview.

For SSN, put YES you want them to assign you SSN this will make process easy for you as you will get it in the mail rightaway. This is for your own convenience, so utilized it
