First of all, do not ever send a cashier's check to USCIS. Why? Because there is no way to find out when or if it has been cashed.

If you do, you must be a federal agent.

My husband sent it, despite me telling him to do online payment. He also accidentally posted all the reference numbers and the bank won't tell him any of the tracking into because he didn't supply them his account info when he bought it. I'm stressing.

Surely they're not going to cash it and not tell us?? I mean, they are a bit rubbish, but they're not thieves?!

paper processing at NVC is much slower , compared to using the NVC Online Payment Portal.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

A cashier's check is a check from the bank to the beneficiary. You have nothing to do with it. No-thing. Not-a-thing.

Seriously--the message isn't just for you, but for all the other folks who need to hear he same thing. And hubby needs to learn too--not just at this phase of the process, but for the upcoming phases. Just follow ALL the directions here and you will breeze through, but if you think your way is better, the odds are it isn't.

I understand, but it's done, $404 HAS gone, whether this was the worst thing we could ever have done. I can't go back in time, so now I'm looking at what I can do to make this situation better. I was hoping for help or just some positivity because right now everything feels like ####### and I'm losing hope. We barely have enough for a flight so I don't know how I'd get the money together to pay this again. And this wasn't my idea, my hubby did it without me having any say in the matter.

Now I just feel like I've messed up big time, this life I chose sure does suck right now.

I'm sure you are going to be fine. It is just very very slow. I sent a personal check for every transaction I made. Sometimes it was a week after the check was cashed (check status online), before they gov't notified me that all was well.

Hang tight you will get there.

MrsP, I'm sure it will be fine. It just slows down the process a lot, that's all. As you said, what's done is done. Best thing you can probably do now is to try to stay busy and wait to hear something from NVC.

Wasn't so long ago that we were waiting impatiently for our NOA2s, eh? Stay strong and hang in there. This too shall pass! :thumbs:

08/01/11: Case received at NVC

09/19/11: Case complete and forwarded to consulate

10/19/11: Interview (APPROVED!!!)

11/18/11: POE

12/12/11: 2- year Green Card arrives in the mail

12/22/11: Applied for SSN at local office

12/26/11: SSN arrives in the mail

Thanks guys. I know that this will be a minor blip when I look back on it, but each day is agony at the moment and with the amount of times I've checked the NVC payment portal, it now seems impossible for it to say anything other than 'NOT PAID'. It's our 1 year anniversary tomorrow :(

Happy anniversary to you. Please don't be sad. Tell yourself you will be with your husband for your next anniversary. Try to make the day special with him on the web cam. I know it's a poor substitute but for now it's the best you can do.
