Do Immigrants Pay State Taxes?

I recently had a conversation with someone concerning immigrants. The person mentioned that immigrants do not pay 'state' taxes during their first 5 years here in America? Is that true? Also, what about Federal taxes?

In a word "YES" to both state and fed as soon as they can work and are employed they employer will deduct state and fed taxes. That is one reason why they get a social security number.

The only immigrants that don't pay state and fed taxes are the illegal ones, that is one of the reasons why the borders are protected.

you are partially correct on that. some illegals do not pay any taxes while others do (via fraudulant ids). And those that do pay taxes have no claim for the benefits, say for social security checks.

This is one of the BIG reasons why the out cry by the TAX PAYING citizens are SCREAMING at congress to enact stronger controls on the flow of illegal immigrants from south of the Mexican border, and to deport any illegal immigrants from the country, is because they are costing the legal citizens and Legal Immigrants more in taxes to provide government services.

So again immigrants do pay state and federal taxes.

Eventually the republican base will come around to Amnesty. After Bush tells them that illegals are good for the economy because they keep prices down so Americans can work good high paying jobs 8000 more times.

now.. do immigrants have benefits or they have to become citizens? everybody got their SS letter, the one that tells u how much money u have, and if u retire at a certain age u're gonna get so much money etc... of course this would be my 2nd year under SS lol.. but.. am i gonna get that letter, or not yet

now.. do immigrants have benefits or they have to become citizens? everybody got their SS letter, the one that tells u how much money u have, and if u retire at a certain age u're gonna get so much money etc... of course this would be my 2nd year under SS lol.. but.. am i gonna get that letter, or not yet

I believe those letters start at a certain age, though I am not 100% certain on that. I am getting them and have for a few years now. I do not remember when I received my first one though.
