Posted booby pictures are precisely why I browse this site with images off when I'm at work. They're just as inappropriate in a work environment.

I don't have anything personal against posting a male ####### or a female ####### (or whatever). What I object to is the possibility that such content may be driving away newbies or unregistered guest users who usually browse from work. In my opinion, to keep this site as accessible to all users as possible, the content on this site should be as "safe for work" as possible.

Before anyone points it out, I've also posted photos that I would not want popping up on my laptop in view of my boss. I realize that. I shouldn't do that and neither should anyone else.

The reason would be that many people (myself included) do not think that "boobies" and "willies" are on the same level. "Willies" are a much more intimate and private part of the anatomy, as are "kitties". If you don't believe that, try appearing completely naked at a topless beach B)

Possibly, but main reason would have to do with the Pornography laws that are here in the US. Since here a mans sexual organ is outside the body, and a females in internal... that is one of the reasons that you get neked women on many sites (or close to it as possible) without breaking the porn laws.. while a neked man... well, you just dont get all that much. Whether they are considered "fair" or not.. they are what is currently in efect. As to the beach comparison... you purposefully have to go there to view.. here on the web with a site dedicated to immigration, even in an "off-topic" forum part, its not someting that ppl are expecting to see, so the shock value is also part of the issue IMO.

Like, if you were to see two pictures side by side on a billboard... one of a bare-breasted pygmy woman from africa, and the other of say, janet jackson... would you be offended (cover your kids' eyes?) by one, and not the other? What's that about?

If I saw it on a website, though, I would make a mental note of not visiting that site during business hours. Never know how people react to things. Dirty jokes are fine, you can't read 'em from a distance. But images carry a lot further.

Which is why I really believe that in order to keep the site as accessible as possible, posters should refrain from posting such images.

They may need the information present on this site. Images like that may just give the powers-that-be the reason they need to block an entire domain.

Sorry AJ, I don't really have a position on your issue, though I'm leaning towards agreement with you (I'm in my school library). My post was basically unrelated--I just felt like asking that question. Neither offends me either, but what does is the apparent double standard. Carry on.
