Hello again fellow vjers! So my fiancee has been here in Chicago for a month and a half now 2 months on Sept 23rd. She came in on a K1 visa. We have not married yet but will in 2 weeks. What will be the process for her adjustment of status after we marry? what forms shall we use? how much was it in fees? also i dont if this is a problem but she is pregnant. the problem is i applied for a medical card for the baby but it is under her name. is this a problem? hence it is for the baby and his/her care and not for her? it is under that Illinois Child Care program, is this a governmental assistance? therefore violating the I134 that she has become a public charge???

Topic has been moved from US Citizenship Forum to AOS from a Family Visa forum as the more appropriate location - citizenship is still a few years in the future :) .

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I don't know about the Illinois Child Care program (this it: http://www.dhs.state.il.us/page.aspx?item=30355 ?) but I wouldn't want to risk it. I know she's allowed WIC without issue (it's not means tested)... look into that here: http://www.fns.usda.gov/wic/. It's not the I-134 that will be the issue, the I-864 is, you run the possibility of being sued by the US government to repay the benefit.

Here is one link about means-tested benefits: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3183.html#_Means_Tested_Public

and another here: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=775d23cbea6bf210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=8a2f6d26d17df110VgnVCM1000004718190aRCRD

Unfortunately I see some conflicting info (one says CHIP is an issue, another says it isn't).
