Hurricane Irene how will this affect NVC

OK so we all no irene has hit inland and on weather.com the NVC zip has it as hurricane weather warning so its obviously been hit, how will this affect proccessing times etc

obviously the main thing is the safety of all those affected and prayers to those who have lost loved ones and homes wrecked etc.

Portsmouth will likely be on the East side of the storm as it tracks North so they will get a bunch of rain and possibly some flooding. My guess is that the Federal government will tell employees to stay home on Monday in the affected areas. My guess is that they may lose one or two days. It's down to a tropical storm now.

I'm no meteorologist but I've lived in North Carolina for 23 years and have seen a fair number of good storms.

Hopefully NVC will be back up and running in no time!

Depends on how long the powers is out and how bad the roads get messed up , government offices are not like private enterprise. In my opinion I would expect some temporary closing. Jim.

I live abut 45minutes from Portsmouth and the weather is dying down now. The storm knocked a few trees down, electricity is out in some places but nothing major happened. I can't see any major delay taking play because of this.

it came in the weekend and was catergory 1, so i doubt it will affect the processing at NVC.

All is well. I live in north of Boston and work 10 miles from where the NVC is in Portsmouth NH. Storm was not bad here. There should be no delays because of the storm.

Huh, I didn't even think about this. I just heard on NPR that businesses in the area will be telling its employees, "Today is a good day to stay home." We'll probably lose one day. Hopefully, that's all that's lost (i.e. no lives, no homes, no property).

I just talked with an NVC operator.. everyone is at work this morning no delays at all

it was a Cat 1... seriously it was just some rain and wind things should not be delayed at all. I can't believe such a big deal was made about this in the first place.

You have to realize they did not want another Hurricane Katrina. It may not have been as intense as Katrina but the amount of people that did not evacuate and seek shelter at that time and what ended up happening was horrible.

They do not want to chance this and I do not blame the media or the heads of various agencies over inflating the actual storm than it was predicted to be.

I hope everyone that is in affected areas is safe and hopefully they can restore things back to the way they were soon.
