Consulate Review: Mumbai, India
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : November 23, 2011
Embassy Review : New US Embassy in Mumbai (Bandra)
Interview: 11/23/2011 Time:7:30
My wife arrived at the embassy around 6:30am. There were already few people standing in line when she got there. She had to wait in line for 2 hours as the embassy opened at 8:30am. After clearing security she was given two tokens and was sitted on the left side. When her first token number came on screen she was taken for bio-metrics (finger printing) and was handed all the original documents(marriage and birth certificate etc)at that time and then told to sit on the right side and wait for her second token number to appear on screen and name to be called on as well.
They didn't ask for any additional documents such as copy of sponsor,Ds230, I130 etc...
American CO(Lady,) this are the questions(not in order) that the officer asked her...
Q1 Who is calling you to USA?
Q2 How long your husband has lived in USA?
Q3 Where does your husband lives?
Q4 How many brother and sister does your husband have?
Q5 what does your husband do in USA?
Q6 what is the name of your Husbands’ College? (since i am in college)
Q7 How many people are living in your husband’s household?
Q8 Was it arrange marriage and How did the families knew each other?
Q9 How many people attended the wedding?
Q10 Who is sponsoring you?
Q11 where does the person sponsoring you lives?
Q12 Where does the person sponsoring you work at?
They also ask her questions about my aunt as they found her phone number with account name in the phone records. They also looked at two marriage albums and was asked to identify family members from the pictures. They also ask her did she know Mahesh Patel??? and we don't know anyone by that name so she said "No". That was a trick question just to check whether she was telling the truth.
Interview lasted about 15-20 minutes. The officer told her that she passed the interview and will get the visa by mail in 2 days..she also got the text from VFS that the visa has already been shipped the same day...

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
