Im nineteen and so is my fiance.

I am Australian and he is American and we are planning on our wedding being March 3rd.

We have just started the visa process.

I have a couple of questions about the I-134?

We are both currently unemployed and full time college students.

If we got my dad to sign as a co-sponcer and possibly his uncle, would that be okay if both of us dont currently have an income?

Also, I have already been offered a really great job for when im able to work in the US. Will that make this situation any better?

Please help.

My fiance doesnt work though - neither of us do, we are both fulltime college students. My father and and maybe his uncle will be our finacial support until I start my job once we are married. Will that be a problem? How do I go about doing this form then?

If the embassy in Australia accepts co sponsponers then you should be ok. Look around VJ and see if you can find a case where a co sponsor was used or ask in your portal and see if someone responds. You will still fill out the I-134 but your cosponsor will have to as well. Both of you must provide financial info, paystubs, tax transcripts, proof of employment, etc. The I-134 isn't sent to USCIS though.

Hope this helps! Best of luck!

The joint sponsor has to be a US citizen or Green Card holder.

The job offer will not matter.

You have F1 listed in your profile. It sounds like you and the bf are preparing the K1 petition. What is your current status re: US immigration?

So where does the I-134 get sent to if it doesnt go to the USCIS? And this is probably really stupid but seeming as im the one moving to the USA do I still go through the australian embassy.

This whole thing is so overwhelming and confusing!

As long as the 864 affidavit of support sponsors show proof of adaquate income, you should be ok. I've seen lots of people in your case with approved 864s

No need to post similar questions in other forums. Especially without all the details.

Please don't make any big/ expensive plans until you have the visa. You are giving yourself only 6 months, which is cutting it extremely fine- not impossible, but unlikely you'll have your visa by then.

Look at the Guides at the top of this page, they explain the process. The I-134 is submitted at interview. You will go through the US embassy in Australia, not an Australian embassy here in the US.

Your fiance files a petition on your behalf. Once approved your files is sent to the Sydney consulate where you will interview. The affidavit of support is submitted at that point. The petitioner provides an affidavit regardless of income. Any affidavit from a joint sponsor is also presented at this time.

If your interview is successful then a visa is issued. At that point you can move to the US and marry. Whether it will happen in time for your March plans is unknown. The sooner you start, the better your chances.

Thread asking for the same information has been moved from the USCIS forum and merged with the existing thread in this forum. Please do not start new threads to ask for the same information as it becomes difficult for people to answer without all of the information. You can start a new thread to ask a totally new, unrelated question. :)

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I don't think you need to worry about the I134 right now, you just need to gather the packet for the I129 first :) Its good to get other paperwork ready ahead of time, but for now just focus on preparing the I129. There's enough to do in that to keep you busy. You have proof you've met in the past two years right?

My question is are your droping out of collage? Maybe you can come here on a student Visa and then get married. Might be easier and faster. However the job will then be an issue then. Also since you are both sutedents, please take a look at the costs of applying for K1 ,then AOS. It really adds up ( ~$500 then ,~$500 for medical, ~$500 for misc stuff, ~$500 for interview, ~$1500 for ticket to US, ~$2k to 20k wedding, ~1k for AOS). The only reason that I am saying this is that you guys really young (19) and I dont want you guys to be with out an education.

What every you decide good luck and follow the Visa Journey K1 process worked for me with out any issues. Also read very carefully and then reread 3 more times.
