finally received an email asking for a copy of a government-issued document indicating the date of birth (e.g. valid passport, birth certificate, marriage certificate)of petitioner. They lost it i guess lol. Well, anyway, there's a ray of light here after waiting for 46 days finally we got some encourage words from them instead of keep getting 6-8 weeks wait message

4. Complete Tax Returns (including all the schedules filed) for 2010, 2009 & 2008

Write your NVC Case number on each page of the documents at the top right hand corner (all papers please). I am going to sleep now and will check tomorow morning at 7:30 AM.

10. Not a requirement but NVC asks for those.

11. I am not sure if this is really required, as any US Citizen or Pemanent resident can sponsor. But I saw in some thread that one of them got a RFE requesting for proof of relationship.

Both are optional and it is your call.

I have my FIL as a co sponsor, he's an old man lol and retired. He makes money from the properties that he has. Does my mother in law need to file an I-864A as spouse of co sponsor? she doesn't work but she got money from the government and they both filed tax jointly.

If your FIL makes enough money to sonsor (he, his wife, you & another other, if any), then there is no need for your MIL to join using I-864A. But if she has money in bank and if your FIL's income is less or a little more than 125% of the property level for the applicable number of people he supports/ sponsors, then let your MIL join.

On the document request for the AOS package:

I wonder why would you need to submit citizenship certificate or copy of US petitioner's passport.

I understand that only US citizen or permanent resident can sponsor. But have't you already made the case that you are a citizen, when you file I-130 as a citizen and it was proved by USCIS?

Any one getting trouble not including evidence of citizenship in the AOS package?

I just don't want to send in redundant documents.

Another note: I think W-2s are must for most people. If you filed joint return in previous 3 years, you will need not just the tax return or transcript, but the W-2s in your own name, to show that those incomes were indeed yours.
