There has been a lot of issues when it came to paying someone else to do their I-129F packet. When I called to see how much mine packet was going to cost. They told me 1,100 US dollars. I decided to do my own packet. Did anyone else do their own or went through a lawyer?

Do you really think an attorney actually cares about your needs? I have an attorney for other issues and he continually wants to provide more and more services. If I knew how to file court motions, I would never seek legal counsel. Do it yourself!! Study up using this website. Knowledge is power and power makes you free. Once that attorney knows that you are totally relying on them, they will rob you blind. Open your eyes and think for yourself. You will have the satisfaction of knowing that you are the only one who can take real control of your life. Think of it as an adventure. Many others before you have been through it to the end. I am at the AOS stage. It has been a while since my last Visa process, but it is time do get down with this AOS. An attorney is the farthest thing from my mind right now. I am the happiest man in the world knowing that my new family is here to support me and I in return will bestow all the unconditional love and respect upon them. It is up to you, but I advice against using one. That is only my opinion though. Good Luck in your journey!!!

Stop. Think about it for a few minutes. You go to see a lawyer. He asks you for the personal information to fill in the forms and then he asks you to check that he's completed them correctly. He asks you to provide copies of X, Y and Z paperwork and marks it off against a checklist of evidence requested or recommended by USCIS. He puts it in an envelope, mails it and then bills you.

Who is doing all the work? Who is getting the money?

Unless your case is complicated (CIMT history, violence against women or children, prior immigration issues, drug abuse or sexual abuse) there's really nothing a lawyer can do that you can't do for yourself. :)

Most people who find VJ read the Guides and Sample forms (link at the top of the page), read the guidance notes that go alongside the forms from the USCIS website and do their own filing. Any problems can be asked of the community here and there's nearly always someone who has knowledge or experience of the situation.

Good luck with your application. :)

i am the beneficiary and seem funny to say but I and my fiance did it both. Sometimes I do research then provide him with the needed information. We did it as a team. I don't think a role of a lawyer is needed here for as long you have the right forms and needed info, you can do all by yourself. :)

i did myself (im the beneficiary) and mailed my fiance all the instructions how to put the papers togheter and everything. i did it all with the help of Google, before i discovered VJ one month later. we got approved in 3 months and a half , no rfe. its actualy very easy

my case is similar am in Ghana and my finance is USA. she says cannot fill the papers and handle other stuffs but because of VJ i can confidently say that I can fill the forms and handle other stuffs but i have some doubts so those of you who have gone through the process should help me.

Since am in Ghana Can I fill the forms and mail it to her to submit?

The whole thing is I am the beneficiary but i have studied the whole process on VJ and can do it but the petitioner says she can't handle those paper work so we should take a lawyer. is it possible to handle to handle everything by myself.

I did my own, with only the VJ info to rely on....still waiting on my approval but it could be a couple more months. I have to say, it was extremely easy. I cannot see paying a lawyer that much money. Follow the directions, ask lots of questions on here....and you'll be fine. ;)

cant handle the paperwork???? LOL  all she has to do is to fill up some forms and mail them along with yours. if she cant handle them then u do it for her. it doesnt take more than 2-3 hours total. you definately dont need a lawyer, is waste of time and money trust me

I hired a lawyer over my wife's objections, better to do it yourself. At AOS be sure to do ead and an ap at same time for work and travel. good luck. We filed our own AOS.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.
