Hello,

2 years is almost up for renewal on the green card, and I wanted to know what my steps would be to have it renewed? I know I have to fill out a form, anyone know which one it is and the fees?

Also, the wife wanted to visit back to Pakistan for her sisters marriage, the green card expires December 2011, and was planning on going around that time, which would mean the green card would expire.

What would be our best option, they require to renew 90 days prior, and I am estimating the renewal would not come back quickly, and she does not want to miss the wedding. Anyone have any ideas?

Thank you

Do you have the 2 year card or the 10 year card?

If you have the 2 year you DO NOT RENEW IT. You remove conditions on it and you should have 2 years spanning of evidence.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

Based on your timeline, you have to REMOVE (NOT to renew) your conditional GC by filing I-751. Let say, if the date of your GC is December 10th, your 90 day window won't be opened until the 12th of September.

Good Luck!

You can file up to 90 days prior to the expiration date. I'd suggest you do so early on in those 90 days. You should recieve a NOA1 which will extend the current greencard for one year, which would allow your wife to travel in December.

I am assuming you are talking about the 2 year conditional greencard, so I agree with Inky, this is not a regular renewal of the card, you have to remove the condional status on the card/your wifes status.

Go to the Removal of Conditions forum for more info on how to proceed!!

Apologies, yes it is the 2 year green card, my wording was wrong.

So I am going to have to remove the conditions and once I receive the NOA1 for it, it is possible for her to travel? Are there any numbers I may contact to ask them personally?

Thank you so much for all your help!

Yes, the NOA1 will indicate the resident status is extended for a year. Carry the expired green card and NOA1 for any international travel.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

That's the guide. I suggest you read through it thoroughly. The fees can be found on the USCIS website. If you haven't been collecting evidence (which it sounds like you haven't) then you need to start thinking about this now. It's important to have evidence that spans your whole marriage.

You can travel with your extension letter, but your wife will need to be available for her biometric appointment.

You should file for ROC around October. Within the month you should receive an NOA1 that will extend the GC for another year. Your wife may travel on that letter to Pakistan. She should carry her expired GC with the letter as well. I don't think you need to call anybody for this kid of information, but if you must, call the USCIS hotline. Honestly, you'll find more accurate information on visajourney than by calling them. Good Luck.
