Irish, I'm so sorry this has happened to you. It's terrible not knowing and not being able to anything to help the situation out. I think that is why we are all at odds over this whole experience because we are used to being in control and we have no control in this process. I have a pretty straight forward case myself, but I worry that something like this will happen to me since there seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. Just stay strong, don't let "them" get to you. You know what you want and you know that you'll wait for this man, your wait is just a little longer than you thought it would be. Each day I find out something new about the process that inevitably extends the wait (in my head). I had no clue that the interview date would take so long from the time you get your NOA2, so I'm doing away with my July wedding plans. It sucks (hate that word, but most appropriate), but you'll pull through. Tell him is all I have to say. Don't go through this alone. Right now he will be your best form of support, though we here at VJ will do all we can to keep your spirits up, as you have done for us at one time or another.

Irish, there have been other VJ'ers here with minor overstays (wogboy for one) who got K1 visas and entered the country successfully. I just don't know what they had to do to explain that slight overstay.

Settle down. We are trying to help you.

I know-I appreciate it I am just a mess today-can't get my head around anything :(

Thanks again for all the support (F)

I just called my Congressman-his office said they could place another call today but he recommended I wait a few more weeks. As he said-if we are being scrutinized this much-he doesn't want to bring any unecessary attention on us.

I completely agree & I am going to ring him back in a month. He did tell me that it may very well take the full 6 months, so I shouldn't get my hopes up.

Oh well just wanted to give you an update.

Thanks again for everyone's kind words..........they do mean a lot to me (L)

Irishgirl im soo sorry to heart your story. I dont understand why they rejected the application. When i was having my interview there was an irish guy having his K1 interview. They asked him if he ever overstayed and he said no.In the end they informed him that he had actually overstayed by 7 days a few years ago. To the best of my knowledge he got the K1 visa stamp. The dublin embassy seem to be very wishy washy. That day another womans case was rejected as she didnt have the right documentation, no fault of her own as she wasnt sent the right forms in the first place. In your situation your bf only oversatyed by 2 days.

Get your boyfriend in ireland to contact his local politican or try and contact the office of the american ambassader to ireland James C. Kenny. Its worth a shot. The number for the american embassy in dublin is 01 668-8777. Leave it a few weeks to settle and then try again.

I still cant believe your application was upheld. My heart goes out to ye guys. If your bf wants any advice my email address is in my profile. I hate to say it but why not contact an immigration attourney. My own journey only took 3 months or more so its heartbraken to hear many of the stories on VJ.

I-751 - Removal of conditions

10-20-2008 - Sent package via usps - overnite mail

10-22-2008 - Package received and signed.

10-28-2008 - Cheque cashed

12-02-2008 - Biometrics in Boston

10-03-2009 - Transferred to CSV

10-04-2009 - 10 year GC on the way

Hey girl---BUG HUG!!!!!! (F)

That`s really a pain, all those delays and all. It probably is just that one thing u mentioned about those 2 extra days. It`s a simple mistake. I also agree, that once they realize what it is things`ll move again.

Just remember to check your dates a little more carefully in the future.

Lotsa love for both of you!!!!

Oh! A little word of hope: Keith seems to think that America LOVES takin more Irish, so maybe that`s something on your side? :luv:

I just read this thread this morning and my heart goes out to you pet. Don't let the immigration process get to you and doubt your relationship...then they really have won.

One thing I would advise against is Galwayman's advice (sorry Galway) about contacting an Irish local politician. Don't do this - they could mess it up a lot more than you realise, as they really have no proper knowledge of this process, and have no real authority over it either. This process does not need someone meddling around in it who has no clue...leave the Irish politician idea out of it please!

I do hope this gets resolved sooner than what they have said to expect, but hang in there and take comfort that IT WILL eventually be resolved for you guys!! (F)

Well said Amanda. And not just so far as the locals go. Anytime you ask a politician of any kind to get involved in your case, you run the risk of coming up against some gridlock that wouldn't have been there before it started - it's called 'ok, you're checking on my work then?'

Especially true when the case goes to the consulate. CO's don't like to be questioned.

Irishgirl has every right to want to be approved and to be concerned about the delays. But the hard, cold reality is this petition is far from beyond the normal processing times. It's just out of the Vermont norms. It's way to early to call in the political reinforcements. Way.

Indeed, I wonder if there would have been any AR at all if a congressman had not already been called.
