Ah now....don't get personal, Mike. I think the point is clear here. If you want it moved back, I'd suggest you bring it up with Kathryn, not me. That is all. Have a nice day. :)

i haven't gotten personal yet. you have taken your bait thread being moved personally & are trying to cause trouble. you know this thread was intended for the PI where most of the members are christian conservatives. i have hit the report button & i have sent ewok an email. i will have a nice day. you do the same. :)

That's your opinion, Mike. Sounds like you believe that there's no room for other POV in the Philippines Subforum beyond the majority voice. Regardless, the point here is that if a thread is political in nature and a mod of Kathryn's stature believes such a thread belongs in the P&R, that's her call, not yours. But I do support you having the right to voice your opinion, just not here in this thread, and certainly not by bringing in any grudges you have with others.

there are other POVs represented in the PI forum. no, the point here is you are abusing your privileges by moving the OP's thread & changing its audience & direction....aka hijacking it. apparently because you didn't like your thread being moved. as far as i've seen kathryn nor any other mod has been here yet to comment on this thread. kathryn did however imho-rightfully move your bait thread out of the PI forum. again the intent of this thread & yours you keep using as an example for justification are completely different.

I thought they all became good capitalists.

Kind of. They sold off all the state property and pocketed the cash.

yes RJ it is. steven's thread was a bait thread posted today in the PI forum in responce to this thread posted yesterday there....totally different intent & moving completely done out of spite.

Well, when the opening sentence in a thread is something like "Thank God I married a conservative", that sort of sounds like politics to me.

Unless you want to say it's cultural.

Again.

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.

I too was misled by the opening post and had to read the thread more closely to realize that it is appropriate for the original forum in which it appeared so I have moved it back to the Philippines forum. This thread is of a different nature than the purely 'baiting' post started by Steven and which was moved to the P&R forum where it wouldn't be so much of a baiting post but a discussion thread.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I'm just proud of my Filipino wife, thankful we share the same values in life, and afraid of the direction this country has been moving in, starting long before the present administration. I just watch the news, and see how everything keeps getting worse and worse, how in Europe they are saying Italy is now the next victim in the European debt crisis, and I see how this country is heading down a similar road. My wife left a great profession and job to come here because of our commitment to each other. But it scares me for the sake of our family, for our little son just a year old of what kind of a future he will have here.

We talk about one day going to the Philippines to live "when we retire" where the dollar would go much further. But will there be anything like Social Security by then? Will things crumble drastically here before then?

And our society seems to be crumbling too, becoming ever more immoral, more permissive. Signs keep popping up, historical signs that meant the collapse of formerly great empires. I feel like this country is coming to its knees, becoming so broken.

While not all hold my spiritual views, which is ok, I am just thankful that I have a wife who does, who is also my friend. And even if things crumble around us, at least we have each other, my wife and my son and our God, to hold tight to. And for that I am thankful. And THAT is why it was so important to me to discover that she and I are like-minded in our values, because when all else goes to ruin we still have each other who are the same.

I think it is important to decide what kind of person you see you would want to spend the rest of life with, even through dire times, before marriage, and then settle for nothing less than that type of person. When I met my wife online, so far away in the Philippines, it was important to ME to know we would share the same values, which is sort of important when times get hard. Important for a healthy and lasting marriage.

Anyways... I didnt mean to offend anyone by my spiritual/conservative views. But my spiritual/conservative views are a part of my marriage, and a part of our (my wife's and mine) journey. It is why we even are together. That's why I mentioned it here, all this. It is all a huge part of our visa journey.

 It's back!

When my wife is eligible to vote in the next election, I guess I will find out how "conservative" she really is. I expect her political views, when it comes down to having to make a choice, to be somewhat different than mine, and that will be okay.

My wife has the same values as me. She is not a citizen of the USA, but she knows more about the politics and political leaders and the values of this country than just about any American I know. I always am so impressed of what all she knows and the people she knows so much about.

In the Philippines, even before meeting me, she used to watch FOX news every day.

 This thread is begging to be sliced and diced in P&R!!!
