Hi everyone

I'm a newbie in this forum and right now I'm waiting for the next thing after i received noa2, i guess it was a soft copy. I've read somewhere that the next thing will be the hardcopy of my noa2. Okay i'm really lost right now, I mean me and my fiance really really clueless about all of this, we don't even know about this soft copy and hard copy, could someone explain about this please? also, i got an RFE and until now my status on USCIS website is RFE response review. Is that mean that NVC hasn't approved my case yet?

I thought after i received noa2, i will get somekind of instruction packet that tell me to do medical stuffs and to complete the documents and after we done with that, we just need to inform the embassy that the documents are ready and we set for an interview. Please correct me :( so clueless X(

p.s : i have an appointment next week for medical examination though I got noa2 only :( I read that the result will be valid for a year

Thanx a lot everyone

Welcome to VJ! Im confused how do u have ur NOA2 but yet u got an RFE that u responded to yet still pending......ur NOA2 normally comes several months after filing and if u got a RFE it comes after they have reviewed the rfe......they normally send email or txt (if u signed up for it) to let u know ur approved (some cases u dont get txt or email bcuz of uscis error) then u get the paper copy of NOA2 in the mail which is considered the hard copy........

A very basic expected timeline would be:

File I-129F

Receive NOA1 (which is basically a receipt for I-129F and assigns a case number)

If there are problems, you get an RFE (You respond with documents until they are satisfied)

Receive NOA2 (USCIS approves your application, sends to the NVC)

NVC Assigns case number

Pay NVC Fees

NVC Fees received

Submit I-864 and DS230 (And others, depending on your case)

NVC Closes case and sends to the embassy of your particular country

NVC sends interview letter and assigns interview date (includes instructions for interview prep and what to bring with you)

Interview

Visa Yes/No

Everyone has at least these steps, some have more if their case is more complicated or there are issues, problems. In your case, you had a USCIS RFE which means USCIS needed more information or questioned something you gave them before they will approve the app. If you are confused as to the reasons, you can call them (phone number is on your NOA1) and they will answer questions for you. Other than that, you just have to wait until they process your RFE and move to the next step.

Cheers,

NVC Fees received ?????????????????????????????

Are there any other fees besides the $340 for the application and the monies that the beneficiary has to pay at his/her embassy?

No, no NVC fees. The person above seems to be listing the process for a spousal visa instead of procedure for a K-1. You won't pay fees or submit anything to the NVC. You will use the I-134 not the I-864, and that will be submitted with the others papers that are sent to, or brought to the embassy on your interview date. It varies from consulate to consulate.

Fees for the visa stage of the K-1 are the visa fee, the medical, and any expenses for documents, travel, etc.

Also, the $340 you paid was for the I-129F petition. The visa application fee paid at the interview stage is $350.

There is no NVC fee if you file for K-1, however the beneficiary will pay $350 at the embassy for visa application.
