I have filed for an extension for my 2010 Income Tax returns and was a full time student and did not work the year prior so I had a additional sponsor fill out the AOS as well as myself, and she provided HER tax returns. Our case has been approved through NVC and forwarded to the consulate, should I expect to be required to provide my own tax returns even though I have filed an extension,or should the additional sponsor's returns be good enough??Any ideas??Thanks.

Yes you should provide the 2010. My hubby filed the extension but the Embassy here requires the 3 recent years tax returns.

Good luck

So,do you think I will only need 2010??Thanks for the info!

Follow the I-864 instructions regarding tax returns. If you were not required to file a return you submit a written statement explaining that.

I have provided a copy of my extension and that was good enough for NVC, as our case has moved to Lagos, just wondering if I should file my 2010 in the current situation so that I can provide the Consular office a copy when we go to the interview??

I worked the entire year, from jan- dec but the IRS advised me to wait until my husband gets here and has either a SSN or a TIN to file married,as it be more beneficial that way..?? :help:

We also filed an extension form 4868 and it should have both husband and wife's names on it. This should be good enough in my opinion as it seems to have been good enough for the Embassy in Manila. Best of luck on which ever strategy you take, may it be successful.

If the second sponsor makes enough money then you wont need to show your tax return at all. They just want to make sure that the person filling the AOS makes enough money to support him..l

I dunno, the IV unit may ding you for not providing complete information on YOUR I-864. IMO, an extension form is not enough.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
