Hi VJers,

Any recommendation as to which day of the week is better for traveling from the Philippines to USA. I need to get my fiancee's ticket. I am trying to figure out which day of the week is better. I read Monday - Wednesday. Others say something else.

Let me hear your opinion. PRONTO!:clock:

"They have a secret poll."

:reading:"mmmm.. what poll are you talking about?"

:secret:"something about the outcome after we are together"

It used to be Wednesday and Thursday are best days for ticket prices. Now, it is only Wednesday. Fridays and Mondays are expensive as many plan long weekend get aways and/or travel for business those days. Also watch the calendar for Holidays in both countries. I put a post on traveling and saving in the forum under other topics as i am booking my 4th flight. I found 3 travel agents and online prices from $1351 to over $2000 economy. And i finally worked the system and got a fare for $1017. Watch when changing several times in other countries, as it may look like cheaper ticket but when you add in the country's taxes, it comes out more. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply. Cheaponair.com has good prices. Orbitz(kayak), cheaptickets, priceline, etc will not allow me to book a single ticket from Phil to USA. They only allow me to do book rountrip.

Try finding the one-way flight you want on the discount sites and then going to the airline directly. I've often gotten a better deal through the airline directly. My last trip to the Phils, I booked a round trip ticket for me on Kayak, using continental and then used the flight numbers to book my fiances one way ticket through continental's online site. Not only did we get seats together, we also got the one-way flight for $200 less than what was advertised on the discount site.

If you're a chronic planner as I am, check some of the Phils airlines like cebu pacific. They have many international flights to HK, Korea and such for less than $100. Then check for airlines flying to US and for special fares. I've done this before and saved alot. Its a hassle to be looking at several airlines and schedules at once but the money saved can be well worth it. Just remember, if you do book flights individually, you will have to pick up luggage and check back in for the next flight, so plan layovers accordingly.

Well, I do not know if I like to do that. I like her travel experience to be comfortable. For instance, drop her luggage in Manila and pick it up in her destination city. Travel time is very important. We want to keep it below 24hrs travel time. I saw a good deal from Manila to New York in about 19hrs. Including 2 hrs wait time in HK. So far that one is my candidate.

As far as good in traveling, I think she is. She has traveled to other countries outside PI. Including Dubai, KH, etc. That is why I like HK or some airport she is familiar with to be her connecting AP.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

Keep those suggestions coming !!! Pronto

FYI, we flew through Vancouver on Philippine Air to Chicago 2 weeks ago. It was a big PITA! Nobody knew what was going on there. We will never fly through Canada to get to Phils ever again.

Tahoma,

It is not what you think. Just that we like to be together soon. We waited "enough" to bring her kid with her, but USEM does not want to co-operate with us. We are thinking in postponing his trip for after school is over in the P. Exactly one year after her K1.

That's impossible, unless the destination city is a POE. Let's assume it's not a POE, yes? She'll have to schlep her luggage out of customs area, put it in the reboarding area for transit luggage pickup , or drop it off again at the airlines counter (depending on how that airport handles transit luggage)

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
