I saw this question asked once awhile back but wanted to hear a few more responses as there was limited reply to that thread.

:help:

Okay, on G-325A form- Fill in the blank: Nationality/Citizenship .... I'm Petitioner and a citizen of the good ol US and A. However I was filling in "American" and got advise that that's wrong. The other thread responses were to put "U.S.A." but I'm not United States of American...

Soooo am I "American"

"U.S.A"

and the blank is so small, cannot fit U.S.A. Citizen

Thanks in advance

Sooooo I feel by putting U.S.A. I'm answering a question that asks: What are you? And I answer: I'm a country.

:bonk:

And I totally understand I could be completely overthinking this here, so if I am to put "U.S.A." in the blank that asks "Nationality/Citizenship" is there anyone here that ran into issues with that answer or has a better answer??

You can say american. Anyone who thinks differently doesnt understand that the question is asking nationality and there is no nation called America other than the United States of America. Even if you are of the Americas your nationality would be canadian, brazilian, etc. etc. American fits.

YESSS because to me that's what I'd answer to someone who asked it, instead of saying "u.s.a."; however I can see from a legal standpoint that it's not the full name of this country and then once again I'm stuck going in circles with this! Curious if it's caused RFE's or issues with simply writing "USA" (even though I feel I want to write American, just have to hold back maybe!)

I put USA because I'm a citizen of the United States of America. I think you could probably put either (although I'm not for sure) but I've always put USA especially on government paper. Even when I went out of country and I had to fill out visa entry forms. They ask for your nationality and I put USA.

i put american for myself on all of my paperwork thus far and no legal problems. I dont believe that there is any other nationality that you can confuse american with.

Nationality should be answered as US Citizen.

I agree that would seem to be the best answer, but it's a limited amount of space in this box and that doesn't fit.

On the sample form from this site, it says "Australian." So I put "Filipina" for my gal and "American" for me. We will find out if there are any issues, I guess. :)

Ummm actually the Americas is the continent which is divided into 2 north america for the usa and its states and south america for the rest.

I dont think it would be acceptable to put north american- i mean nobody says that but then just american would not seem sufficient either in my view.

I get your point abt the USA cos u know a citizen of jamaica is jamaican, china chinese, canada canadian etc...so to answer ur question?i'm confused myself :-)

but i wud listen to those who filled out this form already.maybe a forms sear h on this site will help.

Goodluck
