Start with Obama’s abysmal record

I don't want to write a book, but what are we still doing in Afghanistan and Iraq while getting into more sh*t in Libya? Why are we continuing to dole out gobs of foreign aid and not getting much in return for it. Why is America hauling the major load on NATO obligations while the country goes broke? I'm sure the usual suspects will harp that it is only a few billions and is miniscule when you look at the big picture, but....

In a nutshell...where is the "CHANGE"? It's the same old sh*t with the predictable liberal bullshit tossed in to add to the misery. No thanks...I'll pass on more of Obama's "CHANGE".

Maybe the "hope and change" promised is, the "hope" a "change" in Prez will happen in 2012. :star:

But at least we closed Gitmo. Plus, unemployment is back around 5%, the housing problem has turned around and we no longer have a deficit.

I think he was trying to be facetious and sarcastic.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

So which recession hit countries have actually done these things?

Maybe they didn't promise to.

But if you know the promises aren't realistic, why do you act as if they were?

That's why I didn't vote for Obama. And that's why I won't vote for him in 2012.

How do you decide who to vote for?

You judge for yourself which promises are realistic and which are an exercise in rhetoric

That's why I didn't vote for Obama. And that's why I won't vote for him in 2012.

That doesn't really answer the question

Clearly the economy hasn't turned around the way President Obama thought. Do you think that it's because the problems were worse than he thought, his ideas weren't as good as he thought, or were the ideas he expressed about the economy just exercises in rhetoric? Or is there another reason?

Who cares? Barry said he'd fix all that.

When and where did he say that? I seem to remember that he proposed a recovery plan that would - per his claim - prop up employment by 3.5 million jobs. That has been largely accomplished according to the CBO with ARRA. The economy no longer sheds jobs but has been creating jobs for well over year now. Private sector jobs, that is. Public payrolls have been slashed in the meantime which should make conservatives happy seeing how they're all into smaller government. It doesn't, of course, and the new GOP majority in the House has made it very clear thus far that they have no interest whatsoever in legislation that would promote economic growth and reduced employment. They've brought nothing to the table that would improve the economic situation in this country since gaining their House majority. Not one thing in that direction. Instead, they're laboring hard doing all they can to ensure that the recovery is killed.

It hasn't improved anywhere in real terms. It's a global problem, not an American one.

The electoral college skews things where small states seem a lot more important than warranted by their actual human (livestock doesn't count) population, while states like California or Texas seem less important than warranted by their actual human populations.

the livestock would probably be smarter voters.

Not really.

In 2008, CA had 55 EC votes, TX had 34. By contrast the smallest states and DC have 3 each (MT, WY, ND, SD, VT, AK, DE, DC), sine there's an EC vote for each senator (2 per state) and each House member (minimum 1 per state).

Where I went to school 55 and 34 are significantly bigger numbers than 3. Here's an electoral college red/blue map for ya. All the more evidence to claim that this "center-right, four out of five are non-liberals" of Krauthammer's is just poppycock.

America has liberals and conservatives, urbanites and rural dwellers, solidly red/blue states and swing states. In any given election year there is an opportunity for our varying ideologies to clash. Sometimes one comes out on top, sometimes the other. That is a good thing. For either side of the ideological spectrum to claim that they have a moral lock on the destiny of the nation is absurd.

This is the big problem with both Democrats and Republicans. Everyone is too busy making excuses for their “team” and blaming the other side for all the ills in our country. When do we realize that ####### is ####### no matter what party they are in and stop accepting Campaign Promises to get elected that we know are not realistic and that they have no intention of keeping? The real problem is with the Proles. We accept what is given to us by our government. Every politician is a crook. Every politician is a LIAR. When do we stop defending people just because they are a Democrat or a Republican and demand something better? When do we stop letting Special Interest and Big Business buy our leaders? When do we get to stop voting for the lesser of two evils?
