K3 or IR-1/CR-1?

Warmth greetings to ALL!!! Am a new VJ member, my name is Michelle from Butuan City, Agusan del Norte, married to Douglas from U.S.A. just last month May 09, 2011 Philippines:) We're both happy that special day for us, but in just few days....my husband went back to his own native land:( we both sad, coz we didn't sure when we can be together again:( I can't stand it longer being apart from Doug:(

I need some helps, guidance, and advices....since processing visa is my first time experience, am soo much confused what best we can do??? is that K-3 or IR-1/CR-1? are they the same? am reading a lot about this, but still I have doubts;)

If Doug and I will goin to process k-3? what will be the papers required for processing?

And if we choose IR-1/CR1? what will be the requirements?

Three weeks already since my love went back:( and I miss him very much:(

Looking fwd. for warmth response regarding my questions stated above.

welcome to VJ.after reading the guides.you have to chose whats right for you., but for me the CR-1 was the right way to go, for many reason, compare the priceing virses the time-line, then chose whats right for you...... and yes we all miss each other very much, but think ahead in the process and you'll see the right choose. good luck

I'll give a brief explanation on the sequence of events. For CR-1, the green card will be issued on arrival in the US in the form of a I-551 stamp. The actual card will arrive in the mail a short time later.

When only filing the I-130; after it is approved by USCIS, it will go to the NVC for processing (Affidavit of Support and submission of civil documents), then on to the Embassy for the interview.

If the I-129F is filed in conjunction with the I-130. It will be tied together by the USCIS and both petitions are typically approved at the same time. Recently the I-129F filed in conjunction with the I-130 has been making its way to the NVC first. In such a scenario, the K3 goes forward and all the NVC will do with a K3 is assign a case number and send it to the Embassy. If the two petitions arrive at the NVC at the same time or if the I-130 arrives at the NVC ahead of the I-129F, the K3 process will be administratively closed. Entering the US on a K3 visa will require Adjustment of Status in order to obtain a green card.
