Your best bet is to pay attention to those people whose start date is around you. Those that filed July/August/September/October have had a rougher time. Dec/Jan appear to be moving along.

But as a piece of advice: Stop counting the days, it'll drive you nuts. The best way to handle the process is to not even think about. Go on with your days as though you never filled it out. Otherwise you'll drive yourself crazy, get paranoid, and obsessive. Those that look at a clock find time to move slower. My fiancee and I barely ever talk about. Some days we'll say "another day closer!" or encourage each other if the other is just in a bad mood. But otherwise, it's never spoken and we've never fought about it once. It's honestly the best way to go about things.

Just a heads up from a Jan-filer. We got our official "we're in" notice Jan. 26/27 - not sure how many days we're at but not NOA2 yet...

Well...since you are technically a "recent" filer - I will give you that you don't know how difficult it gets, because I knew how you feel. The first 3-4 months after we filed, we didn't really talk about it much or obsess about it. Months 4-5 were harder but we new it was coming. But now? 7.5 months later? The last month and a half has been BRUTAL. I can't go on with my days without thinking about this process. My life IS on how old at this point. My friends ask me if they should include an invitation for my fiance to their weddings. I say, I don't know, I can't guarantee anything. My fiance has put off buying furniture he desperately needs in his new apartment because we don't know if we will receive approval soon and he'll have to sell it - or if we will be waiting another six months. Same here. If this visa doesn't get approved - which at this point, things are looking super bleak - I will need to move back to Mexico. So, because of that possibility, I have put off moving to a new apartment, buying new furniture, making plans for my future. If I get another job or not, and where, depends on if he comes or not.

My WHOLE life is on hold, and after this is long, there is NO way it could not be. I pray to God you never, ever have to arrive to this point and know how painful this wait REALLY is.

CSC 6 months 5 days Heartbroken and trying very hard to understand why? I didn't know anything about how the visa program worked in the beginning so all of this has been overwhelming. My advice to everyone is to consider this day a new day and stay positive everyday that this process will soon come to an end and one way or the other you will be with the one you love. Since this process is so uncertain, it is best to have plan b and plan c.

And do not forget that you are asking your spouse or fiance to leave their country to be with you, so you have to be willing to go to their country or a third country if PLAN A (VISA TO USA) does not work out.

Good Luck to everyone. And to those who are feeling the heartbreak that I am feeling thinking about leaving my family and friends, giving up my job, my home, my furniture and personal belongings and possibly my car and my pets, just know you are not alone and that true LOVE is definitely worth it.

If you are 6 or 7 months over I would be calling every day even if they say "wait 30 days" and also be calling my congressman/woman. If you are over 7 months I would say send an email to the Ombudsman. Good luck on your journeys.
