my fiance is in nigeria he is 32 and i'm 48 is that going to be a problem I pray to god not for Love doesn't come that many time some please help me

Unfortunately the CO may see it as a problem......the age thing can go either way you will just have to pray about it. There has been some couples the age difference doesnt effect them and on the other hand it does. Ur fiance should be prepared to answer questions about the age difference it is culturally normal and expected that Nigerian men have children.....good luck

I agree with the above statements. As I indicated in an email reply to you, you will need to have proof that the relationship is solid and strong, which includes submission of the proper documentation and proof of an on going established relationship.

Take time to read up on what needs to be done prior to proceeding with your visa application, and have all your documents in order prior to sending them in.

Weather age is an issue with the CO or not, still, that is much further down the road for you. YOU will need to meet in person regardless, so again I suggest you meet first and go from there.

Good luck.

It may or may not be an issue. Like others have said, make sure you have plenty of evidence of your relationhship.

Good luck.

Hello My Sister!

I am going to try to be as sensitive and diplomatic as possible. I would be REALLY careful with this relationship in light of the huge age difference. Typically most african men that I've encountered are very adamant about having a woman younger or at least close to their age who is still in her child-bearing years. I do not know you or your man but my instincts are telling me that he may be using you for the greencard. You can cuss me out and so can everybody else but i really took the time out to respond to you because I care. I am 5 yrs older than my african husband and believe me it ws a big deal to him concerning how his friends and family would perceive an older woman. Let me give you some history about my husband and me. We married in 2007, he arrived in 2008. For the most part it has been nothing like he described it would be while he was waiting to get over here. In my case, we are united by our religious beliefs at this point. I actually would LOVE for him to leave but he keeps saying in the african culture it's not proper to leave the marriage. All those wonderful words, promises and expressions of love he spoke while in africa, have been very minimal at best since he arrived in 08. If I had to do this all again, I would have stayed single or met somone already here in the states. Please understand I'm not bitter, Im not african bashing and all that other jazz, I'm just trying to ask you to think long and hard about marrying someone who is 16 years younger than you, from another country, and with SO much to gain from marrying a US citizen. Please dont be a victim!!!! Again, I'm still married and he and i are still together but i wish someone would have forewarned me of how a person who's desperate would sell his own soul to get out of poverty.

**Stuck in this unusual marriage***

You have threads in several areas all dealing with potential problems in your relationship. Relationships aren't always balanced and life isn't always perfect. Loving a person from another country isn't cheap. Nigerian relationships have a horribly high failure rate. If you look at the top 10 Nigeria posters half are not together ( really bad because I am in the list of of the top 10 twice at the top and the bottom ) African culture isn't what the US is. Unless you have a better grasp of this I think you are in way way over your head. This process will cost you thousands of dollars and take you a long time. There is no way to be certain that you aren't being used , statistics show there is a 50/50 chance that you are being used. You are running about making wedding plans for a man you have not met face to face and who you don't know a fanily background for. Do you know that in Nigeria people hire investigators to check out the family they intend on marrying into ? My current husband was dating a woman with a engineering degree and walked away when the family report came back negitive. Nigerians are actually facinated with the way US citizens jump into relationships so blindly. You need to take a big step back. Go there and meet your fiance. Find out more about the culture. Protect yourself. Think with your brain and not with your heart and your "lower parts"

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

I'm 39 and my fiance is 24. There was not a single mention of our age difference at his interview in Malawi - we were approved and as of 6 days ago he is here in the US with me now.

I'm sure how much scrutiny you will receive depends on the country and embassy - just collect as much evidence as possible, lots of photos with the family as well and as many in-person visits as you can manage.

K-1 Visa

02/28/2011 – Interview
03/14/2011 – VISA APPROVED!
