You are right. But writing 2 pages telling me how I am so screwed if the buyer wants to claim she never got the iPad is a little much. I get the point. It is my first time selling a high ticket item (besides an iPhone 4 for $500) and I was unfamiliar with how to protect myself. I screwed up and could very well pay $1,000 for my error. I only have a couple things going for me. 1) is that this particular buyer has 5,000 feedback and I don't see any such incidents on her file. 2) is that she has bought over 10 of these iPads and looking at some of the sellers there are at least 2 that I see that look like they are on the same boat as me. There is nothing that can be done.

You work in law enforcement but spend your days on a US immigration forum insulting other members all day long. That is an epic fail in and of itself.

It's really not that hard. Just because it is beyond your capacity doesn't mean it's impossible. Now the key word would be legit. I'm not sure how Ebay has changed their policy regarding this, but the last time my friend did this, it was technically permissable, but somehow, I doubt it still is. It's not a matter of law enforcement, it is a matter of computer expertise.

I have sold and bought many many things on Ebay over the years, always through paypal. I am sure it'll be fine. Just make sure you get insurance next time to not have to worry about it.

Thanks...I was really worried for a couple days and lost sleep and literally not 1 minute went by without me thinking about it for the 48 or so hours until feedback was left. It was a nightmare but everything turned out fine as I figured it would. The person lived in Jamaica Queens which apparently goes by another name that sounded very suburban and more friendly. I looked at her apartment complex and it was a massive building so saying that USPS dropped the package off in front of a NYC apartment complex in Queens where 10,000 people walk by an hour isn't really a plausible thing to say. When I told my wife we screwed up she was hysterical and even cried...

In the end eBay took 9% of $1,000 or $90....PayPal took $30...Shipping was $10....So $1000 minus $130 is $870 which is pretty much exactly what I paid for the iPad 2 in stores MINUS GAS!!!

But the purpose was to get my money out of a $550 gift certificate which was accomplished....I also learned how sh!tty eBay is....If I did a 'Buy-It-Now' price of $1000 they only would have taken about half of $90...

I ordered 6 more through Apple.com and 2 arrived today...They are about to be delivered for sale (craigslist)....Paid $1770 for both and will be receiving $2020 so a quick $250 profit for the day...Steven says I might as well do any of the old 'easy money endeavors' like being a phone sex operator (his example). I think it is easy money in the bank...
