If they paid in 11.2 Billion can you be so kind as to tell us the value of services they consumed from the Local, State & Federal Governments during that same year?

Corporations have constitutional rights, as decided by the Supreme Court of the United States. A corporatophobe is someone who hates and maligns corporations. The end result of your corporatophobia, whether this is your intention or not, will be the infringement of the God-given constitutional rights corporations currently enjoy.

What white people once did to black people, what straight people once did to gay people, is precisely what people who use your type of corporotophobic rhetoric are doing to corporations today.

It is despicable and disgusting. And frankly, you should know better. It is inconceivable to me that after having seen what hate speech did to the Jews of Nazi Germany people continue to persist in it.

I ask you again, please stop.

Corporations enjoy constitutional rights in this country. Speech that maligns them is designed to facilitate infringement of these rights. When you said they "failed" to pay taxes, that is what you did. The least you could do is apologize but given your obvious corporatophobia I won't be holding my breath.

   Priceless AJ, priceless.

Do the math - Income taxes paid in to the treasurey last year were 900,000,000,000 - (900 billion)

divided by rounded off to 300,000,000 people. (300 million)

That is $3,000 per head, and that is income tax only. No property tax, no sales tax, no federal excise tax, no other tax included in that figure, $3,000 per head.

This article says that illegals paid 11,000,000,000 (11 billion rounded off)

divided by a genious figure of 10,000,000 illegals. (10 million - and we all know there are more than that)

That is $1,100 per head, and that includes all taxes they pay (estimated).

The illegals are ripping the system off and breaking the law. GE is playing by the rules. This is so obvious that anyone with one active brain cell should understand it.

Yes yes, GE is good and illegal immigrants are bad, and I am a gas chamber building corporatophobe. We have reached an agreement on this topic. :P

This was not a personal attack and never said you were a gas chamber building corporatophobe.

But after I read the sickening article:

What about the economic activity that GE produced? How much of their revenue was paid out in payroll that was taxed and submitted to the treasurey? How many goods and services did GE acquire on the market from other companies that had payroll that also added to the coffers. How much economic activity does an illegal create when a big chunk of their paycheck gets sent back to Mexico. Turn the lib brain washing off and think a little on your own people. The world would be a much better place.

The gas chamber building corporatophobe was not referring to anything you said.. Let's just say I got my VJ rookie initiation earlier on this particular topic.

I do still hold my ground and say that I think a multi-billion company SHOULD pay taxes on their revenues. This is not that much about GE, I do realize and fully understand that they were within the law - it's more about US tax policies that just do not always make sense to me.

Illegal immigration is a complicated matter, and I do not think it is acceptable - but I think human stories are often more complicated than "they hopped the fence, stole our jobs, and never paid taxes for anything".

Enough said from my part on this particular topic.

Topic closed, fair enough - but last thought -

they hopped the fence, stole our jobs, and never paid taxes for anything

It is as simple as that. Live a long time close to the border, in the southwest or in the other regions expanding throughout the country that are becoming populated with illegals and your attitude will change. The game for them is to get here and take the system for as much as they can. That is the way it works in Mexico and that is carried over here. It is not racist or bigoted but just a fact. I lived in Eurpoe for almost 20 years and the same thing is happenning there. Using the system and ripping off the government is such a part of life in the middle east that they don't even know anything different. That attitude is brought to Europe in what is at least legal immigration and it is breaking the system. Coming from Finland it should be understood. Why is Sweeden curtailing immigration and benefits? If you have't seen it with your own eyes, as most Europeans haven't, then you will not understand that it is as simple as "get over the border and then take a job and never pay taxes."

As far as GE?? That is another topic for a thread that is not closed.

I have no idea how there is a logical connection between GE's tax bill and illegal immigrants.

That said, GE is obviously a corporation operating in the US - a free market capitalist society, in contrast to Scandinavia's more socialist system. They are in the business of increasing their bottom line (net income) and produce value for their employees, suppliers, customers, and shareholders. They would be CRAZY not to utilize the tax code, mind you - legally, and try to reduce their tax burden.

Its the same way everyday American taxpayers take advantage of mortgage interest deductions, education deductions, earned income credits, among a myriad of other "tax loopholes" to increase their own retained earnings.

Its self-interest. Its capitalism. And I love it. I love America.
