Oh!

I assumed his whistle had to do with Texas being at #3.

You're probably right. Gosh, I'm so self-centered.

There obviously wasn't any downward adjustment in this study for the embarrassment factor.

Hawaii is ranked dead last - Its the worst state to make a living.

As Lisa would say - oooooooohhh noooooo, hehehe

I guess its a life style choice. Real life here is not easy. Most newcomers only last 2 -3 years before they move back to the mainland.

Its Hot, expensive, hard to get stuff (equipments, supplies and parts), high taxes, and oh did I mention expensive? Lacking quality schools and infrastructure. Hawaii - 1st recession and price rise - last for Recovery and price adjustment. A lot of price fixing here because politically protected corporations can and we have no other choice. Im done venting hehehe.

I live in the country, so we are blessed with virtually no crime, plenty of room to raise kids and try fulfill dreams.

Since all this reminded me why Im here in Hawaii, IM going to plan a small camping trip with my kids next weekend. I cant wait for Lisa to be here too and enjoy life togather. Peace n Love D

You sure showed me!

I would doubt if housing costs were entirely offset by wages. Median home sales price in MA, for example, is like 5 times that of KS. I would earn more than 1/5 of my salary if I worked in KS, presumably. I have to assume they've done theire math right and I guess it boils down to the fact that the distribution of the types of jobs available is so different by state.

*shrugs*

A $500,000 home in MA would quite possibly cost you $375,000 here.

The wages for the same job would be the same though.

That's why I'm always amused by these studies.

At the end of the day we're making the same $$$ here, yet are living the good life b/c of our COL.

This study ranked Texas higher than Mass. What are you whining about?

Having lived in states with both, I'd never again choose to live in one with a state income tax, no man.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Bad Thing about Texas. We are overflowing with Illegal Aliens mainly from Mexico.

They have brought in crime, Poverty, Disease, and overpopulated some of our cities and they have been turned into 3rd world cities.

In Dallas check out Irving and Farmers Branch, two cities that were great cities 20 years ago, now of days they are the Mexican Hood

Google Irving, they were turning over Illegals in the city to ICE and ICE told them to stop cuz they had so many.

Google Farmers Branch, they passed a law where it was illegal to rent to an Illegal Alien, well that brought in lawsuits both local and Federal and that failed.

Texas will soon be a 3rd word country unless a Civil War erupts.....

3rd world is a bit extreme....

There are issues all around when it comes to illegals, but the majority of the ones here do work pretty hard and do spend cash everywhere..

I will say they do turn neighborhoods into something not so pretty though, that's for sure..

Fort Worth had to pass a ban on Roosters lol because of them, ha.

Every time I visit Ecuador, I fantasize vividly and actively about shooting a billion roosters. There's even a (very vocal) rooster in downtown Quito (the capital city), aarrgh man.
