Thank you SOOO MUCH for this, Brit Abroad. I don't tell my fiance this, but I've been a bit ambivalent about this whole thing. At first, I was excited. Extremely excited! But after the excitement calmed down, I then thought about the people I will leave here. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my hubby, and that is why I am doing this. But.. I have never been separated from my parents for 2 weeks the most, I think. I love them soooo much. Also, my father is sick, and I'm worried.

I have been spending a lot of time with them.. I wished I appreciated everything earlier though, because I feel like time is ticking. I have, since then, been enjoying time with the ones I love.

Thank you for this reminder.. It brought to my mind how so many loved people there are in our lives.

Oh gosh, i know i will miss UK :( From the suburbs of birmingham to the breeze of the cornish coast..there are so many memories I will take with me. I made some friends for life here and as time goes by, I know I will have to say goodbye to all my loved ones. I just hope my transition in US is as painless as possible.

This is so true. I'm about a month away from leaving, maybe a little more and things are shifting alot for me.

For more than four years all I could think about was moving to Cali to be with my fiance.

I went for visits every chance I got and hated coming back to Canada.

Now I'm basically at the finish line and I couldn't be more upset about leaving.

I'm surprised at myself. I knew I would be sad to leave my family but I never thought I would be this upset.

Its hard for my fiance, he doesnt quite understand my overwhelming sadness and I can tell his feelings are a little hurt.

Hes very supportive and reassuring but for him there is no sadness in the move, there's only excitement and happiness at my impending arrival.

This is a helpful topic, I tell you I sure as hell didn't see this reaction coming!

So make the best of your time while you wait because you love your family and having the chance to have them around you is a privilege you will miss!

Totally agree! I'm trying to do this right now. I even made a list of things I want to do, places I want to go and people I want to see/spend more time with before I start a new life with my future hubby. I'm trying to maximize whatever time I have left here. It keeps me from focusing on the stress/frustration of the K1 process too. :)

Soooo true! This is a great post. I was so impatient to get NOA2 and now that we have it, I'm dreading the day I have to leave my life, family, and friends! I'm so excited to be with my fiance soon but I'm having mixed emotions about leaving. I've been spending the last few weeks more with my family and friends. I even had an early spur of the moment going away party with one set of friends. They made me a slideshow of our photos and it made me cry :crying:
