NVC said they received my file on March 7 but it still hasn't been put into the system. Also, they say I should wait 4 to 6 weeks?? Are they serious? Has anyone waited this long? Why can't my case go as smoothly as most others have. :( My patience is wearing thin. I already have all the documents ready to be sent. I hate the thought that my file is just laying somewhere "in the building".

You will hear that everytime you call NVC. My case was transferred to NVC on 18th Feb and I got cse no on 4th March. I got the same answer when I called them. Do not panic. You will get your case no. within next week. But keep on calling them.

call, get Human, inquire for case status. When Embassy # is assigned, you'll know about it. Case transfers from Texas Service Center have mucked up most intake processes at NVC, so they need extra time to sort out the mess, and the other service center intakes - eek - Texas mess affect the rest of them for casefile intake. Sorry, nothing to be done but keep calling, inquire for casefile status.

Suggest to call after 10 PM EST, M-F.

Good Luck !

Thanks everyone for your input!

This didn't actually happen, but I can imagine it:

NVC Operator: We have received your file sir but it hasn't been put into the system. It is in the building.

Me: It's somewhere in the building?

NVC Operator: Yes.

Me: Can you see it from where you're at?

NVC Operator: ....

Me: Can you go over there and put it into the system?

NVC Operator: No sir.

Me: Could I come over there and put it into the system?

lol... (taken with slight modification from this hilarious comedian (except he's talking about dealing with the phone company): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ohE_edBCM0Q )

It very well could be "in the building" perhaps the person who drew a box of files to work on decided to leave the unfinished pile in the box in thier cube or office when they went on maternity leave for 6 weeks. Very typical stuff for these folks.
